Awarding "Lighting up dreams" scholarships to disadvantaged children.
The festival reviewed the history and significance of International Children's Day June 1. It emphasized that Vietnam is the first country in Asia and the second country in the world to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child - the first international legal document that comprehensively addresses children's rights based on the principle that children have the right to special care, protection and assistance. The first International Children's Day (June 1, 1950) in Vietnam took place during the period when our nation's resistance war against French colonialism was going through the most difficult and fierce period, but President Ho Chi Minh always thought of the children of the whole country and sent letters of congratulations to the teenagers and children.
June 1st every year has become the festival of caring for and nurturing Vietnamese children. Our country has a Decree on protecting, caring for andeducating children. This is also the responsibility of everyone towards the future young generation of the country.
In order to encourage disadvantaged children in the district to overcome difficulties and achieve high results in studying, training and working in the Youth Union, the Organizing Committee awarded 55 gifts including a backpack, notebooks, and school supplies, each worth 300,000 VND, and 20 "Lighting up dreams" scholarships, each worth 500,000 VND, supported by Welofarm Seedling Supermarket and the District Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and Child Rights Protection, which mobilized sponsors to support. In addition, the children were also trained in skills to prevent drowning, injuries, and violence and child abuse.
The festival ended with a folk game festival that attracted the enthusiastic participation of children, with games such as: balance bike, magic clogs, jump rope, ring tossing for gifts, creating a joyful atmosphere and a useful playground for children on the first day of summer vacation.
