Launching response to National Action Month on preventing and combating domestic violence

Attending the event were Mr. Dinh Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Family Work in Lam Dong Province, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism, Mr. Truong Hung Dung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Don Duong District; leaders of departments, branches, and organizations of the province; leaders of districts, cities, and departments of Don Duong District, along with 10 typical cultural families representing ethnic groups from 10 districts and cities in the province.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Dinh Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Domestic violence is a social problem, causing pain for humanity, leaving many serious consequences for people, especially for women and children.

In recent years, the Party and State have paid much attention to the prevention and control of domestic violence and have issued many laws directly and indirectly related to the family, typically the Law on Marriage and Family, the Law on Children..., especially the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence has promptly concretized the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on protecting human rights, contributing to reducing domestic violence over the years, building a system of Vietnamese family values in the new situation, implementing the construction of a prosperous, equal, progressive, happy and civilized Vietnamese family.

According to statistics, in 2024, the country recorded a total of 2,303 cases of domestic violence, occurring in 2,194 households. Compared to 2023, the number of domestic violence cases decreased significantly from 3,240 cases to 2,303 cases.

For Lam Dong province, the Provincial Steering Committee for Family Work, together with departments, branches, sectors, unions and localities, have also resolutely directed and implemented well family work, prevention and control of domestic violence, gender equality,education on family ethics and lifestyle, and a set of criteria for family conduct.

Thereby, it has raised the awareness of the community about the role, meaning and importance of family building. The number of domestic violence cases in the province has decreased every year. In 2010, the whole province had 755 cases, in 2015 there were 369 cases, in 2020 there were 180 cases, in 2024, it decreased to 44 cases.

The rate of households meeting cultural standards is increasing in a sustainable direction (the whole province reaches 91.8%). Many typical households are shining examples in production, business, building happy, prosperous, harmonious families, contributing positively to the local socio-economic development.

Outstanding cultural families attend the launching ceremony

In order to build and promote the Vietnamese family value system, contributing to building a prosperous, equal, progressive, happy and civilized family; gradually reducing domestic violence, promptly supporting victims of domestic violence, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed all levels and sectors from the province to the grassroots to focus on implementing 4 contents: Promoting educational and communication activities on preventing and combating domestic violence, the Code of Conduct in the family in many diverse and attractive forms; raising awareness of the role, position and responsibility of the family and the community in implementing policies and laws on family and preventing and combating domestic violence; preventing and stopping the penetration of social evils into the family; improving the standard of living on the basis of family economic development, paying special attention to policy families, families in remote areas, ethnic minority areas.

Honoring 10 typical cultural families

Implement well the regulations on marriage and family, gender equality, eliminate backward customs and practices on marriage and family. Continue to replicate and maintain models on preventing and combating domestic violence suitable to the actual conditions of the locality; promptly commend and reward typical collectives and individuals who have made positive contributions to family work, preventing and combating domestic violence at the local and grassroots levels; improve the capacity of staff directly involved in family work, preventing and combating domestic violence at all levels and sectors; the team of collaborators, propagandists, consultants, mediators on preventing and combating domestic violence and prestigious people in the community.

The ceremony honored 10 typical cultural families who are typical examples of building prosperous, equal, progressive, happy families, and exemplary leaders of movements in the community.

Giving flowers to the Festival Jury

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province also organized the 4th Festival of Typical Cultural Families of Ethnic Groups of Lam Dong Province - 2025 on the occasion of Vietnamese Family Day, June 28.

The festival is an opportunity for typical cultural families of all ethnic groups in the province to meet, exchange, discuss and share experiences in promoting Vietnamese family cultural values, contributing to building a prosperous, equal, progressive, happy and civilized family.

Presenting souvenir flags to districts and cities attending the Festival

The festival will take place over 2 days with many meaningful activities such as: Propaganda car parade; visiting and encouraging families with especially difficult circumstances in Don Duong; Warm and loving family meal cooking contest, Folk song singing contest and traditional costume performance of ethnic groups, visiting Churu Cultural Village and Folk game and sports contest Happy and healthy family.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes for the Online Contest to learn about the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence associated with propaganda to implement the Code of Conduct in the Family of Lam Dong Province to 4 groups and 10 individuals with excellent entries.
