As reported by SGGP, from late March to early May 2025, in Kim Lu commune (Na Ri district), 7 large sinkholes appeared, many of which are up to 10m wide, more than 10m deep and are currently flooded. There is a sinkhole located right on National Highway 3B, seriously affecting people's travel and daily activities.

On May 14, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province announced a natural disaster emergency with these strange sinkholes, and at the same time sent specialized forces to survey, delineate and warn of danger.

Regarding one of the 7 sinkholes above, an accident occurred on the evening of May 26 in Hiep Luc village, Kim Lu commune. According to the confirmation of the authorities, Mr. Nguyen Duy Ph. (born in 1989) was driving a motorbike and fell into a sinkhole about 10m deep located in the middle of the median strip. on National Highway 3B, even though the area had been fenced off with warning signs. Many days later, despite the use of hidden cameras, hooks, and water pumps by authorities, the victim’s body had not yet been found. On May 29, the search had to be suspended due to concerns about further landslides, posing a danger to the rescue team.
