From May 18 to 25, a delegation of Ho Chi Minh City led by Acting Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs Pham Dut Diem attended the Darwin Fusion 2025 event in Darwin, Australia and organized an exhibition space to introduce Ho Chi Minh City within the framework of the event.
Darwin Fusion 2025 is a key event for the City of Darwin to celebrate the culture of the community and showcase its unique economic potential. The event also conveys the message of the city of Darwin’s desire to strengthen trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges with sister cities, friendship cities and international partners.
Within the framework of the event, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation attended an international relations workshop with the theme "International Exchange: Connecting with sister cities through culture, community and trade".
Bringing together more than 70 delegates including diplomats , policy makers, academics, experts and entrepreneurs, the workshop shared and discussed the challenges, benefits and opportunities that city-to-city cooperation frameworks bring.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Pham Hung Tam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Australia, introduced Ho Chi Minh City as a dynamic city with great potential for cooperation in economics, services, finance and infrastructure, especially after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau .
Building on the growing strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia, Ho Chi Minh City and Darwin City can exchange experiences, promote effective cooperation in innovation and address common challenges.
Within the framework of Darwin Fusion 2025, the delegation participated in organizing an exhibition space to introduce and successfully promote the image of Ho Chi Minh City as an attractive and colorful city, a place where traditional culture and the pace of life of a modern city intersect to international friends in general and Australian friends in particular.
In addition, the delegation also had a working session with representatives of Darwin city government to discuss cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, human resource development and agriculture between the two sides.
Mr. Pham Dut Diem, Acting Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, believes that the event will open up many practical and meaningful cooperation activities between the two localities in the coming time, especially in areas where both sides have needs and strengths.
Darwin is lacking human resources in the tourism and agricultural service sectors, while Ho Chi Minh City can cooperate in vocational training to meet this need.
With similar tropical climate conditions, the two sides can jointly research, breed and develop new tropical plant varieties for agricultural production. Regarding tourism, the similar climate and short flight distance between the two sides are favorable conditions to promote exchanges and cooperation in tourism development...
