A contractor has been selected to survey and prepare a pre-feasibility study report for the Cu Hin Mountain Tunnel Construction Project.

The Traffic Works Maintenance Management Board (Khanh Hoa Department of Construction) has just announced the results of the selection of a contractor for the consulting package for surveying and preparing a pre-feasibility study report for the construction of the Cu Hin Mountain Tunnel Project connecting from Song Lo, Phuoc Dong Commune - Nha Trang to Cam Hai Dong Commune - Cam Lam. Accordingly, the winning bidder is the Joint Venture of the Large Bridge - Tunnel Design Consulting Joint Stock Company and T27 Consulting Joint Stock Company. The implementation period of the package is 60 days; the package value is over 2.2 billion VND.

Previously, in July 2024, the Department of Transport (now the Department of Construction) reported to the Provincial People's Committee to propose an investment policy for the Cu Hin Mountain Tunnel Construction Project. Accordingly, the starting point of the project connects Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Phuoc Dong Commune (Nha Trang City); the end point connects Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Cam Hai Dong Commune (Cam Lam District). In the investment proposal report, the department proposed 3 route location options. Specifically, option 1 has a starting point connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Nha Trang, the end point connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Cam Lam District; with a total length of the new route of about 5,760m, including a tunnel of 4,280m. Option 2 also has a starting point connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Nha Trang, the end point connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Cam Lam District; with a total length of the new route of 5,640m, including a tunnel of 4,880m. Option 3 has the starting point connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street on the Nha Trang side, but about 1.5km west of the starting point of the route according to the Adjustment Project of Nha Trang City's General Planning until 2040 ; the end point connects Vinh Binh - Cu Hin Street, about 1km from the end point of the route according to the General Planning of Cam Lam New Urban Area until 2045. The total length of the route is 5,980m, including a tunnel with a length of 3,760m. Option 3 has a basic route location suitable according to the Adjustment Project of Nha Trang City's General Planning until 2040, but the route direction is adjusted to reduce the length of the tunnel.

The Department of Transport proposed to choose option 1, which is both harmonious in terms of total investment capital and ensures the most convenient connectivity. The total investment of the project is expected to be from 2,700 to 3,500 billion VND, depending on whether to invest in 1 completed tunnel and 1 shelter tunnel or invest in 2 completed tunnels. The Cu Hin Mountain Tunnel Construction Project will form an additional traffic route connecting Cam Ranh International Airport to Nha Trang, as well as shortening Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, serving the development of industries, tourism, services, creating conditions to promote socio -economic development in the province as well as ensuring national defense and security.
