Liverpool want Isak
Despite spending big in the summer of 2025 with a series of quality contracts, Liverpool still shows no signs of stopping, when targeting Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker, valued at 120-150 million euros, is having a conflict with Newcastle and is asking to be transferred this summer.

If Isak joins Liverpool, he will be an important piece in manager Arne Slot's ambitious plans.
Liverpool's continued search for attacking stars despite their many previous additions shows their ambition is clear: to defend the Premier League title and return to the top of the Champions League.
This summer, Anfield welcomed quality new recruits such as Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
This could be seen as a historic summer, showing that Liverpool are pursuing a modern football philosophy – speed, technique and freshness in the squad.
Compared to the young talent Ekitike, Isak is on another level. With ideal height, diverse finishing ability and especially ball handling technique in narrow spaces, Isak is the perfect striker for football in the “Big Data” era.
Last season, he scored 23 Premier League goals for Newcastle (27 in all competitions, a career record), becoming one of the best strikers in the league.
In the League Cup, Newcastle won a historic title when they beat Liverpool 2-1 in the final at Wembley, including a goal from Isak that left the Kop officials spellbound.
That's why Liverpool decided to buy Isak despite the high price tag. In return, there will be farewells, like Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

If the deal goes through, the Premier League champions could usher in a completely new tactical system that fits Slot's vision.
The “Galaxy” at Anfield
With the new arrivals and the possibility of recruiting Isak, Arne Slot is facing the opportunity to build a "galactic" Liverpool, ready to dominate both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Slot builds a new Liverpool that no longer relies on Salah – who renewed his contract at the last minute after half a year of being stubborn. He aims for a new generation – young, full of potential, with outstanding depth.
Arne Slot's preferred formation in the past has been 4-3-3, but with the current pieces, he could easily switch to a super-attacking 4-2-4.
This formation allows Slot to exploit all the “Galacticos”: Salah and Florian Wirtz on the wings, Isak playing as a center forward with Ekitike.
This is a very attacking formation, with the two wingers cutting inside to create space for the full-backs to run into. Frimpong and Kerkez do a great job in this aspect.
With this way of playing, depending on the opponent and the situation, Liverpool can become 4-2-2-2; or 2-4-4 like in early football (an unofficial formation, a variation that Brazil used to operate in some situations).
In this super-attacking formation, the responsibilities of Mac Allister and Gravenberch in the middle are very important. Both of them win the ball back, coordinate the tempo and launch dangerous passes, while also supporting the defense from a distance.
When it comes to defending, Salah and Wirtz are simply wingers to make it a 4-4-2, high-intensity pressing.

Arne Slot's tactical vision is clear: Liverpool wants to dominate the Premier League, playing on equal terms with Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City or PSG - the reigning Champions League champions.
The lesson of being eliminated by PSG is still there, even though Liverpool won 1-0 in Paris. With a fast-paced 4-2-4, The Kop can impose their style of play and make the most of the flexibility of their attack to penetrate any defense.
Liverpool's squad depth is also impressive at the moment. Players like Robertson, Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo, Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones can all rotate and provide a boost from the bench.
Liverpool's second team is still strong enough to compete with the top 4 competitors in the Premier League.
Fenway Sports Group is usually tight-fisted, but after Slot's sensational season, Liverpool have opened their coffers like never before.
The Kop fans are eagerly waiting for the "galaxy" to officially operate.
