Sowing seeds from awareness
One day at the end of March, I attended a party cell meeting at the Yen Phong District Military Command. The atmosphere in the meeting room became quiet when a young cadre told a story about the moral example of Ho Chi Minh . Sitting upright, speaking slowly, the storyteller did not need to be flowery but was enough to move the whole group.
Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Dai, Political Commissar of the Yen Phong District Military Command, shared: “From stories like these, we see that learning from Uncle Ho is not just about theory, but must start from the smallest things. That is neat manners, measured speech, daring to take on difficult tasks, not being afraid of hardship, not shirking responsibility…”
Also from that perseverance, the officers and soldiers of the district's armed forces have built for themselves ethical criteria appropriate to their tasks and positions. Each party member has registered to learn and follow Uncle Ho with specific actions: Some take on additional difficult logistical tasks, others volunteer to provide extra training after hours for new militiamen... All are reviewed and seriously commented on in monthly party cell meetings.

Maintain ideological position, improve overall quality
In the midst of the peak training season, we followed a militia unit in Yen Phong district to the training ground on the Cau River bank. Their footsteps were in unison, their shouts resounding in the hot early summer sun. No one would have thought that just a few weeks ago, they were young men working as workers, drivers or small traders. It was the meticulous and dedicated guidance of the officers of the District Military Command that helped the new generation of soldiers mature quickly.
Not only that, the district's military always focuses on coordinating the work of maintaining national defense and security. Thanks to a firm grasp of the situation at the grassroots level and timely advice to local Party committees and authorities, there have been no "hot spots" in the district for many years, and the political security situation has been stable.
From 2019 to present, the district has continuously achieved good results in training, drills, and inspections. 100% of the inspection contents met the requirements, many contents were good and excellent. The most recent defensive combat exercise of the district's armed forces was assessed by Military Region 1 as being close to reality, effectively mobilizing many participating forces, combining disaster prevention and control and rescue in a flexible manner.
Mass mobilization must start from the smallest things.
Hearing that the district military was preparing to go out to do mass mobilization work, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong (Chan Lac village, Dung Liet commune) could not hide his emotion: "Every time the soldiers come back, the village roads are clean, the canals are cleared, the cemetery is repaired. The villagers are very fond of them, whenever Uncle Ho's soldiers are mentioned, everyone loves them."
Not with great things, mass mobilization in Yen Phong starts with very ordinary things: Collecting garbage, dredging canals, cleaning schools, supporting poor households... Sun-burned hands, sweaty backs, but the eyes of the officers and soldiers always shine with joy because they can contribute a small part to the community.
Since 2020, the Yen Phong District Military Command has coordinated to build 4 houses of gratitude for veteran revolutionaries, mothers of martyrs, wives of martyrs and war invalids, with a total cost of more than 300 million VND. In 2024, another house of great solidarity will be built thanks to the joint efforts of the district's armed forces, as a vivid proof of the close-knit relationship between the army and the people.

A solid foundation for young people to join the army
Every recruitment season, hundreds of outstanding young men from Yen Phong join the army. Before joining the army, many members are trained in Party awareness, and some young men are honored to be admitted to the Party right at the military enlistment ceremony. With the companionship and guidance of the District Military Command, many soldiers, after training and maturing, have returned to their hometowns and actively contributed to work, production, and homeland construction.
From the party cell meetings, the training grounds bustling with footsteps, the acts of mass mobilization full of humanity, the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in Kinh Bac land still appears simple yet beautiful.
Constantly innovating, always close to the people, devoted to the people, the Yen Phong district military is increasingly affirming its core role in building a national defense, as Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Dai affirmed: "We do not show off, we only hope to fulfill Uncle Ho's teachings, to be worthy of the trust of the Party and the people. That is the most noble title - Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era".
From 2019 to present, Yen Phong District Military Command has been awarded 14 certificates of merit by Military Region 1 and Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee; in 2021, it was awarded the Emulation Flag by Military Region 1.
