Tornado in Quang Tri causes damage, students stay home from school

Although it only lasted for a short time, the tornado in Quang Tri along with heavy rain caused significant damage.

At noon on November 5, the People's Committee of Hai Lang district (Quang Tri province) confirmed that a tornado occurred in Hai Hung commune, causing significant damage.

Specifically, at 6:30 a.m. the same day, in Thuan An Chanh and Lam Thuy villages, a tornado occurred with heavy rain and strong, continuous winds.

Although it only happened in a short period of time, the tornado caused the roofs of 7 houses to be blown off and the windows of a school to be broken. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuyen - Chairman of Hai Hung Commune People's Committee said that after receiving information about the tornado, the locality mobilized forces to inspect, count the damage and support people to clean up and repair their houses to soon stabilize their lives.

It is known that due to the influence of heavy rain, from the night of November 3 to the morning of November 5, there was moderate to heavy rain in Hai Lang district. Currently, the water level on the rivers in Hai Lang district is high, some inter-commune and inter-village roads are flooded.

On the morning of November 5, 3 schools in Hai Lam and Hai Ba communes (Hai Lang district) allowed 974 students to stay home because the flooding was still serious.

With the hope that people in flooded areas of Hai Lang district will be safe, many organizations and individuals have supported life jackets, shoes, boots, etc.
