Tornado and big waves sank many squid fishing boats of fishermen in Ha Tinh.

Many fishermen in Ky Anh and Ky Xuan communes (Ha Tinh province) were fishing for squid at night when suddenly a strong tornado and big waves sank their boats. Fortunately, the local authorities and people promptly rescued them and brought them safely to shore.

At noon on October 6, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Anh commune ( Ha Tinh province) Duong Thi Van Anh said that from about 7:10 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. on October 5, a tornado occurred in the area, causing 3 fishing boats of fishermen to sink in the waters of Ky Anh.

Initial information, at the above time, 3 fishing boats of fishermen Tran Van Q., Nguyen Tien D., Tran Vinh T. (all residing in Phu Hai village, Ky Anh commune) while fishing for squid at night, about 8km from shore, suddenly encountered a strong tornado and big waves, causing the boats to sink and not be able to reach shore.

Immediately after receiving the information, the local authorities mobilized functional forces and fishermen to quickly deploy all rescue solutions. By about 22:20 on the same day, the fishermen had reached shore safely. Currently, the two sunken fishing boats have not been salvaged.

At the same time, a strong tornado and large waves also sank three fishing boats of fishermen in Ky Xuan commune (Ha Tinh province) who were fishing for squid at night in the waters of Ky Xuan commune. The boats that sank belonged to fishermen Nguyen Van S. (residing in Xuan Tien village), Tran Trong T., and Phan Hong D. (all residing in Xuan Phu village, Ky Xuan commune).

Immediately after receiving the information, the local authorities mobilized functional forces and fishermen to promptly rescue and bring the fishermen to shore to ensure safety. 2 fishing boats were pulled ashore. One boat sank near the shore but due to big waves and strong winds, it could not be salvaged.

At the same time, the boat of fisherman Nguyen Van H. (residing in Le Loi village, Ky Xuan commune) was fishing for squid when it encountered a tornado. With his experience, knowing that he could not reach the shore in time, Mr. H. proactively steered the boat into the wind. During that process, Mr. H. rescued fisherman Nguyen Minh D. (residing in Phu Hai village, Ky Anh commune) who was drifting at sea about 1.5 nautical miles from the mainland.

It is known that fisherman Nguyen Minh D. was also fishing for squid when a tornado and strong waves sank his boat, leaving him drifting at sea.
