The above request was made in the context of prolonged heavy rain and the risk of a tropical depression or storm No. 15 appearing in the East Sea in the coming days.

The downstream area of Don Duong Lake has been deeply flooded in recent days.

Specifically, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province requested the hydropower companies Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi, Dai Ninh, Trung Nam, Dong Nai , Dong Nai 5 - TKV to operate the hydropower reservoirs Don Duong, Dai Ninh, Dong Nai 2, Dong Nai 3, Dong Nai 4, Dong Nai 5 to continue to maintain and increase the regulated discharge with the total discharge to the downstream greater than the flow to the reservoir to increase drainage for the basin and gradually lower the water level of the reservoir, creating more flood prevention capacity until there are forecast bulletins and further instructions.

Houses and crops of people in D'ran commune were swept away by floodwaters.

In which, discharge operation at Don Duong lakes ≤ 400 m³/sec; Dai Ninh ≤ 600 m³/sec; Dong Nai 2 ≤ 700 m³/sec; Dong Nai 3 ≤ 800 m³/sec; Dong Nai 5 discharge is about 10% larger than the flow to the lake.

Thousands of hectares of production land in Lam Dong were damaged after the recent flood.

In recent days, due to the increased water flow into reservoirs in Lam Dong, hydropower plants have continuously increased the amount of water discharged in a short period of time, causing widespread flooding in the downstream area, sweeping away many properties. The most serious is the downstream area of Don Duong Lake, with damage of about 161 billion VND in D'ran commune alone. Of which, 756 houses were flooded and more than 15 collapsed, and infrastructure was swept away. More than 1,320 hectares of agricultural land of the people were partially flooded and landslides in many places.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, the amount of water in the Dong Nai river basin is still quite large and has not yet been completely drained, especially the flow to Don Duong lake is still high. Hydroelectric reservoirs on the Dong Nai river are full and no longer able to regulate floods downstream in the face of the risk of rain and floods in the coming time.
