According to the plan, Songkhla is expected to host 10 sports of the 33rd SEA Games. However, in recent days, this area has been experiencing serious flooding. Many places such as Hatyai and Mueang districts are heavily flooded, forcing the Thai government to mobilize support forces.
On November 26, Thai media reported that Songkhla would no longer be the venue for the SEA Games. Khaosod newspaper quoted sources from the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) as saying that all 10 sports here would be moved to Bangkok and Chonburi.
This is certainly an incident beyond the expectations of the SEA Games organizing committee. Throughout the host country’s media campaign, the three main competition venues that were frequently mentioned were Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla.
The sports held in this southern province of Thailand include: men's football (group stage), kabaddi, chess, pencak silat, karate, wrestling, judo, wushu, petanque, and muay Thai.

In men's football, Tinsulanon Stadium is expected to host matches in Group B, featuring the U22 Vietnam, U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos teams. Thailand has not announced a new venue for these matches, but it is likely to be Bangkok.
This is the second time the U22 Vietnam team has faced a relocation at the 33rd SEA Games. Initially, it was reported that Group B would compete in Chiang Mai but was later moved to Songkhla.
Sports with medal hopes for Vietnam such as wushu, judo, wrestling, pencak silat… will also face no small challenges.
