On the morning of September 9, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Nguyen Viet Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Tin commune, said that at around 1:30 this morning, a flash flood suddenly appeared in the commune and hit the school area. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
According to Mr. Tuan, that same night, when the flash flood came, officers and soldiers of Thanh Tin Border Guard Station and National Defense Economic Group 313 came to support and relocate assets and learning equipment. Currently, the local government has mobilized forces and people to clear rocks and soil, and overcome the consequences of the flood.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Ha, Principal of Thanh Tin Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, said that at the time of the flash flood, there were 280 students in the dormitory and 10 teachers on duty at the school.
According to Mr. Ha, the flash flood with a large amount of water, carrying mud and soil, collapsed a community cultural space in the school and caused landslides in many other structures. This morning, all students were picked up by their parents to ensure their safety.

"As soon as the flood occurred at night, teachers carried the younger children to the 3-story classroom area, and older students helped bring the younger children to safety. Many teaching equipment were damaged, but all students were safe," Mr. Ha shared.
