Vietnamese users have to spend millions more to own iPhone 17 early?

On September 12, 2025, Apple opened a pre-order program in Vietnam for a series of new products including iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, AirPods Pro 3, Watch 11, Watch Ultra 3. In addition to Apple Store Online, pre-orders are also implemented simultaneously at the company's authorized retail systems in Vietnam.

At exactly 7 p.m., a series of genuine Apple retailers in Vietnam officially allowed customers to deposit to buy iPhone 17 Series. However, the price to order for the first delivery on September 19 at retail units has different differences.

According to records, to receive the iPhone 17 Series on September 19 at some retailers, customers must deposit 1 million VND in cash or buy "beer and peanuts". Some retailers even sell at a price difference of up to several million VND compared to Apple's suggested price.

From 7:00 p.m. on September 12 to September 18, 2025,FPT Shop officially accepts deposits for iPhone 17 Series and iPhone Air. To own an iPhone 17 Series, users must deposit 1 million VND in advance. Similarly, at the TopZone system, users must also deposit 1 million VND in advance to own the device. It is recorded that at the TopZone system, up to 9:00 p.m. on September 12, there were 85,000 customers who had deposited to buy.

The CellphoneS system officially allows customers to pre-order the new generation of iPhone. As of 9:00 p.m. on September 12, 17,572 customers have placed orders. A representative of CellphoneS said that they will organize the opening sale of iPhone 17 Series and iPhone Air from 8:00 a.m. on September 19 at 150 stores nationwide.

A representative of the ShopDunk system also said that as soon as the iPhone 17 Series deposit was opened at 7 p.m., there were 9,000 deposit registrations in the first 15 minutes. According to the system representative, the iPhone 17 Pro Max in Cosmic Orange is still the focus, accounting for 85% of deposits. This year is even more interesting when the iPhone Air is the "fire-sharing" factor with the regular line and Pro Max, especially the Sky Blue version. ShopDunk representative also expects a 30% increase in revenue.

However, to own the iPhone 17 Series models, users will have to pay a much higher price than Apple's suggested price. The blue and silver 17 Pro Max models also recorded a price difference compared to Apple's listing.

In particular, the 256GB Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max model costs 42.99 million VND, 5 million VND higher than Apple's listed price of 37.99 million VND. The price difference is similar for the 512GB and 1TB versions. Even with the 2TB Cosmic Orange 17 Pro Max model, users have to spend up to 70.99 million VND to own it, 7 million VND higher than Apple's listed price.

This situation also occurs with the iPhone 17 Pro line. The regular iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air lines have no fluctuations compared to Apple's suggested retail price.

Users also have to deposit 1 million VND to own the iPhone 17 Series early at Viettel Store, however, when contacting the store, users have to pay up to nearly 40 million VND to own the 'hot' colors. (Screenshot)

Some other retailers such as Viettel Store also recorded the situation of selling at a higher price on the website. Customers had to deposit 1 million VND to receive the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 256 GB capacity in Cosmic Orange for 37.99 million VND, but to receive the device early, the buyer was quoted a separate price of up to 39.99 million VND by the staff with a few insignificant incentives.

At the Mobile World system, the price list of the iPhone 17 Series and iPhone Air lines is not even fixed, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max line, users will have to pay from 35.99 million - 70.99 million VND. With the iPhone 17 Pro Max model with 256GB capacity, users may have to pay up to nearly 46 million VND to own it, a difference of nearly 8 million VND compared to Apple's suggested selling price.

This year marks the first time Vietnam has launched a pre-order program simultaneously with 63 markets, such as the US, Australia, Canada, UK, France, Germany, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand. The device will be available to domestic users from September 19. Therefore, the iPhone 17 Series has attracted great attention from domestic consumers.

iPhones are usually sold in places where there are physical Apple Stores, while Vietnam only has the Apple Store Online. However, a few markets with positive sales are still Apple's priority.
