In the context of agriculture facing the need for strong transformation towards safety, sustainability and adaptation to climate change, Ha Tinh has been gradually affirming a new direction by expanding the organic rice production model and following the organic direction. Many localities have proactively linked with businesses to organize production, applying synchronously from seeds, fertilizers to product consumption, bringing about clear efficiency in both economy and environment.
In Tan Thuong village (Thien Loc commune, Can Loc), the organic rice production model in association with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company (Thua Thien - Hue ) has brought a real "golden season" to the people. With a yield of over 3.2 quintals/sao, a selling price of 7,500 VND/kg, farmers not only have a stable income but also feel secure in using clean and safe products.
Mr. Dang Phuc Tung (Tan Thuong village, Thien Loc commune, Can Loc) shared: “I have nearly 1 ha participating in the model. The first time producing organically, my family encountered many surprises because we had to strictly follow technical processes, not using chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Thanks to the thorough training and the support of technical staff, the last crop was successful beyond expectations.”
The 2025 spring crop is the third crop that farmers in Ngu Que village (Cam Vinh commune, Ha Tinh city) have produced rice in an organic direction. The recorded yield in the field reached more than 2.7 quintals/sao. What people are most excited about is the safe production environment, using completely organic and biological fertilizers and products. The land and environment have been improved and purchased by businesses at high prices.
In Xuan Lam commune (Nghi Xuan), Thong Nhat Xuan Lam Agricultural Cooperative is also cooperating with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to deploy the DT39 organic rice production model for the 2025 spring crop on an area of 12 hectares. According to the chain linkage model, the enterprise provides all input materials including rice seeds, organic fertilizers, biological products and consumes all products.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chien - Director of Thong Nhat Xuan Lam Agricultural Cooperative said: “The rice has strong tillering, good resistance to pests and diseases, long panicles, and many grains. This spring crop, the yield reached 6 tons/ha, the selling price of dry rice was 8,500 VND/kg. The income from organic rice is significantly higher than that from traditional farming. In particular, the ecological conditions of the fields have also been gradually restored and become more balanced. The cooperative plans to continue expanding the associated area in the coming summer-autumn crop.”
Not only stopping at pure rice production, Ha Tinh also implemented many models combining organic farming with ecosystem development. A typical model is the model of "Rice production combined with organic farming of earthworms" in Dau Giang village (Ky Khang commune, Ky Anh). This is a low-lying area along Nha Le canal, which used to have many natural earthworms but was lost due to the use of chemicals in farming. After 3 years of implementing the model in association with the company, using completely organic production methods not only helped increase rice productivity to 55 quintals/ha but also gradually restored the field ecosystem. Earthworms and native creatures such as field crabs and field fish began to return.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ky Anh district, organic production not only creates clean, healthy products but also contributes to restoring the ecological environment, gradually building responsible agriculture. The district is aiming to continue expanding linkage models, forming a closed production, processing and consumption chain, linking the interests of people with businesses and the environment.
Currently, Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company has promoted cooperation with 6 localities including the districts of Can Loc, Huong Son, Cam Xuyen, Ky Anh, Nghi Xuan and Duc Tho. The total area of organic rice cultivation supported by this enterprise with technical solutions is over 500 hectares, of which more than 100 hectares are implemented according to the closed value chain model. By providing seeds, organic fertilizers, biological products and output consumption, the enterprise focuses on accompanying localities and farmers on the journey of clean production.
Mr. Ngo Ngoc Hoan - Director in charge of Ha Tinh Branch of Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company shared: “After each crop, the organically cultivated fields associated with the value of Que Lam not only become more fertile, but also become an ideal living environment for living creatures to grow and develop. The company will continue to focus on coordinating to promote scientific application, transfer production experience in households/cooperatives/cooperative groups to contribute to improving economic efficiency in rice production and protecting the ecological environment in Ha Tinh”.
