Due to the complicated situation of rain and floods, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has agreed to postpone the 6th Cham Cultural Festival in Ninh Thuan province to December 2024.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a document notifying the Central Committees, Ministries, and Branches, and the People's Committees of the provinces and cities of Ninh Thuan, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Quang Nam, Da Nang City and Ho Chi Minh City about adjusting the time to organize the 6th Cham Cultural Festival in Ninh Thuan Province in 2024.

However, due to the complicated situation of rain and flood, implementing the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 88/CD-TTg dated September 6, 2024 on focusing on emergency response to storm No. 3 and rain and flood after the storm, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has agreed with Ninh Thuan province to postpone the organization of the Festival to December 2024, the specific organization time will be announced later.

According to the previous plan, the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival with the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Cham ethnic group in the period of national integration and development" chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province, in coordination with the provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Quang Nam, Da Nang city and Ho Chi Minh City will take place from September 27-29 in Phan Rang-Thap Cham city.

This is considered a political activity for the Cham people to introduce the unique and characteristic cultural features of their people.

Nearly 500 Cham artisans, artists and athletes from 9 provinces and cities are expected to participate, representing more than 179,000 Cham ethnic people nationwide.

Cultural activities include festival performances, traditional costume performances, Cham cultural rituals (especially when the Cham have 3 religions: Cham Brahman, Cham Bani and Cham Islam), exhibitions introducing cultural-tourism products, traditional crafts, notably Bau Truc pottery.

The 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival was held to affirm the Party and State's attention to the work of preserving and promoting ethnic culture in general, and Cham ethnic culture in particular.

Through the Festival, the Organizing Committee wants to introduce the unique cultural values of the Cham people such as dance, music, architecture, traditional crafts, musical instruments, cultural heritages, especially the Cham tower system, etc. to the public, while affirming the extremely important contributions of the Cham cultural heritage values to the local socio-economic development./.
