Data development presents a historic opportunity for Vietnam to break through and become a digital nation and a thriving digital economy.

One of the key highlights in Resolution No. 57 dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo is the goal that by 2030, Vietnam will be among the leading countries in cybersecurity, data security, and data protection.

This is not only an ambitious goal but also a necessary requirement if Vietnam wants to maintain its digital sovereignty and enhance national competitiveness in the context of increasingly profound digital transformation.

In this process, data is not simply a resource, but a core element in shaping an effective digital economy and a comprehensive digital society.

The National Data Strategy to 2030 also clearly identifies data as a new resource, a key factor for national digital transformation, creating new value to promote socio-economic development, enhance national competitiveness, and serve the interests of the people.

However, realizing these goals requires close coordination among stakeholders, especially technology companies. Recently, Quantum Corporation (USA) – one of the world's leading technology corporations in the field of data storage and protection – officially selected Asia Pacific Cybersecurity Joint Stock Company (APAC Cybersecurity) as its authorized distributor in Vietnam, which is an important step.

This collaboration is not simply about commercial trade; it also signifies the implementation of international standards for data storage, lifecycle management, and information security in Vietnam.

Quantum's representative in Asia assessed that Resolution 57 of the Politburo and the Government's National Data Strategy to 2030 will transform Vietnam in the coming time; and stated that the company has been and is accompanying the development of a platform for storing, managing, and protecting data security, contributing to Vietnam's digital transformation.

This also demonstrates the increasingly clear trend of global technology corporations investing in and collaborating with the Vietnamese market, not only from a commercial perspective but also as part of their sustainable development strategy.

This is also a positive sign showing that Vietnam is gradually asserting its role in the global digital value chain, while creating favorable conditions for domestic agencies and businesses to access advanced technology.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Viet Anh, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Information Technology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), systematic investment in data storage, security, and exploitation infrastructure according to international standards is a key factor in ensuring sustainable development for organizations and businesses.

The deep involvement of domestic technology companies in this process not only helps increase proactiveness in the application of high technology, but also contributes to creating a modern and sustainable digital ecosystem.

However, according to experts, in order to fully capitalize on the opportunities from such collaborations, Vietnam needs to continue improving its institutions, especially the legal framework for personal data protection, data management, and information security.

Promoting the development of data centers that meet international standards, while simultaneously building a high-quality workforce in the fields of information security and data governance, are also urgent tasks.

Furthermore, there needs to be a close coordination mechanism among ministries and agencies in implementing the National Data Strategy, avoiding fragmentation and localization that waste resources and slow down the digitization process.
