Data development is a historic opportunity for Vietnam to break through to become a digital nation and a prosperous digital economy .
One of the important highlights in Resolution No. 57 dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo is the goal that by 2030, Vietnam will be among the leading countries in cyber security, safety, security and data protection.
This is not only an ambitious goal but also an inevitable requirement if Vietnam wants to maintain digital sovereignty and enhance national competitiveness in the context of increasingly profound digital transformation.
In this process, data is not simply a resource, but a core element to shape an efficient digital economy and a comprehensive digital society.
The National Data Strategy to 2030 also clearly identifies data as a new resource, a key factor for national digital transformation, creating new values to promote socio-economic development, enhance national competitiveness and serve the interests of the people.
However, realizing these goals requires close coordination between entities, especially technology enterprises. Recently, Quantum Corporation (USA) - one of the world's leading technology corporations in the field of data storage and protection has officially selected Asia Pacific Cybersecurity Joint Stock Company (APAC Cybersecurity) as an authorized distributor in Vietnam, which is an important step.
This cooperation is not simply about commercial trade, but also about bringing international standards on storage, data lifecycle management and information security into practice in Vietnam.
Quantum's representative in Asia assessed that Resolution 57 of the Politburo and the National Data Strategy to 2030 of the Government will transform Vietnam in the coming time; at the same time, he said that the company has been accompanying in the process of developing a platform for storing, managing and protecting data security, contributing to Vietnam's digital transformation.
This also shows the increasingly clear trend of global technology corporations in investing and cooperating with the Vietnamese market not only from a commercial perspective, but also as part of a sustainable development strategy.
This is also a positive signal showing that Vietnam is gradually affirming its role in the global digital value chain, while creating favorable conditions for domestic agencies and enterprises to access advanced technology.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Viet Anh, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Information Technology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), systematic investment in data storage, security and exploitation infrastructure according to international standards is a key factor to ensure sustainable development for organizations and businesses.
The deep participation of domestic technology enterprises in this process not only helps increase initiative in applying high technology, but also contributes to creating a modern and sustainable digital ecosystem.
However, according to experts, to make good use of opportunities from such cooperation, Vietnam needs to continue to improve its institutions, especially the legal framework on personal data protection, data management and information security.
Promoting the development of international standard data centers and building a high-quality workforce in the fields of information security and data management are also urgent tasks.
In addition, there needs to be a close coordination mechanism between ministries and branches in implementing the National Data Strategy, avoiding fragmentation and localization, wasting resources and slowing down the digitalization process.
