When compassion becomes a lifestyle
In the midst of modern life, when many values seem to be fading away due to the rush of making a living, there are still people who silently keep a warm fire burning in their community. In Dong Thanh commune ( Nghe An ), people still talk about Ms. Dam Thi Nham, Secretary of the Yen Hoi hamlet Party Cell - a party member who chose a simple but profound way of life: Living for the community, for the villagers' trust and for the humanitarian values that cannot be exchanged.
She is not a famous person, nor does she have flowery words. But through her small actions, she has aroused the spirit of solidarity and neighborliness, which is the root of Vietnamese rural culture.
Yen Hoi residents say that there is rarely a day when Ms. Nham does not visit people. Sometimes she visits the homes of sick people, sometimes she helps poor households fix leaky roofs. Her way of doing things is simple but effective: she does not propagate with slogans, but with concrete actions. " When people see that you do things sincerely, they will voluntarily follow," Ms. Nham often says.

The story of helping the family of Mr. Ngo Van Chung and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Luc - a poor couple living with their mentally disabled son in a dilapidated house during the storm season, is just one of dozens of kind deeds that she initiated. When she knew that they were about to face the rain and wind in their dilapidated house, she did not make a loud appeal, did not wait for the budget or support from above, but stood up and mobilized herself.
She wrote a short line on social media, sharing the honest words of a neighbor: “ Three foolish people, dilapidated house, storm is coming, please help them have a roof .” Just that. But it was that sincerity that moved hundreds of hearts. Some contributed money, some contributed materials, some contributed labor. The whole Yen Hoi village suddenly became bustling, the atmosphere was different from usual. Everyone wanted to do something. It was no longer her personal business, but the common business of the village.
Party members set an example by being kind.
The valuable thing is not only that the house was completed before storm No. 5, but also that Ms. Nham turned a charity work into a movement to spread the spirit of living for others. After that project, the neighbors started to discuss: Whichever household was still in difficulty, they would help fix the roof, and whoever was single would take turns cooking and cleaning.
From her actions, everyone realized that when the community knows how to care and share, each person becomes a part of the collective well-being. Mr. Ho Van Thang, a villager, said something that made everyone nod: " That house no longer leaks, but our village also has less leaks in its heart. Everyone feels relieved and closer to each other ."
That is the value of kindness, when it does not stop at an event, but becomes a culture of behavior in the community.
Ms. Nham always says: " If the people do not trust a Party member, then we have nothing left ." Therefore, everything she does is aimed at persuading through actions. She does not talk about the slogan "skillful mass mobilization", but she herself is the most vivid proof of that motto.
In Yen Hoi, mobilizing people to clean up the environment, build roads, plant flowers along the alleys, contribute to infrastructure construction… has never been easier than it is now. People trust and listen to her because they see that she always takes the lead and does it herself.
Her husband is an officer in the Air Defense - Air Force, often working away from home. Many people ask: " Doesn't your husband find it hard? ", she just smiles: " You keep the sky peaceful, I keep the small village peaceful. Each person does a job, together it brings peace to the country ".
In that simple saying, one can clearly see the spiritual stature of a party member, when personal responsibility is combined with community responsibility, when compassion is closely linked to life ideals. From the small story in the small village of Dong Thanh, we can clearly see that living for the community is not a big thing, but a simple choice every day is to know how to think for others, to know how to share, to know how to arouse people's trust.
Ms. Dam Thi Nham did not build great works, but she contributed to rebuilding trust, which is what any movement needs. Because, only when trust is strengthened, all policies and guidelines will come into life. To this day, the house that she and her people built still stands firm, not only against the wind and rain, but also in the memories of the people.
In an era of skepticism, Ms. Nham's actions remind us that kindness still exists, it just needs someone to ignite it. From a small flame, she has turned the spirit of "helping each other" into a natural movement, without direction, without funds, only with the hearts of people. Her story is not just a story of a small village, but it is a testament to the soft power of belief, to the value of grassroots cadres, the "living cells" in the political system, where the Party's will blends with the people's hearts.
In Dong Thanh, people still call her by the affectionate name: “Sister Nham of the village”. A simple name, but containing so much love and trust. And perhaps, in that trust, there is the image of the most beautiful thing, a party member who lives for the community, lives to do good deeds.
From the story of Ms. Dam Thi Nham, many Party cells in Dong Thanh have implemented the model of "Party members helping people overcome difficulties", mobilizing to build charity houses, supporting single-parent households. These small actions contribute to beautifying the image of Party members in the hearts of the people.
