Promoting the tradition of solidarity, "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", each person in society joins hands, contributes efforts, and supports with the motto: "Whoever has something to contribute, whoever has merit contributes merit, whoever has property contributes property, whoever has a lot contributes a lot, whoever has little contributes a little", to support poor, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances to stabilize their lives, contributing to the successful implementation of the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in general, and in the province in particular. The need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses (households meeting the conditions according to Decision 04-QD/BCĐ) in the whole province is 3,156 households (2,672 newly built houses, 484 repaired houses). Through the implementation process, there are 3,131 households remaining, a decrease of 25 households compared to the approved number. By May 30, 2025, the whole province had started construction of 3,131 units, reaching 100% (2,655 newly built units and 476 repaired units), completed and put into use.
In the overall achievements of the province, it is impossible not to mention the silent but very great contribution of the armed forces. Since the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses was launched, the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command have promoted education and propaganda, creating a strong change in awareness and responsibility for Party committees, commanders at all levels, officers and soldiers to promote the spirit of "mutual love". In addition to assigning the leaders of the Provincial Military Command and affiliated specialized agencies to participate in general direction, the unit also requested the district military command to coordinate with localities to provide information and support, and send forces to help build houses for households. During the implementation process, officers and soldiers have enhanced their sense of responsibility, considered the work of helping the people as their own family's work, and seriously carried it out.
The entire force from the province to the grassroots actively participated in thousands of working days, contributed funds, and joined hands to implement the program, with the spirit of "Serving the People". Along with the emulation movements "The Army joins hands to build new rural areas"; "The provincial armed forces join hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind", the soldiers contributed greatly to social security work, strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, building the beautiful image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the people.
As one of the poorest districts in the country, Tri Ton district has the number of households eligible for "temporary and dilapidated houses" accounting for more than 40% of the total number in the province. Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tri Ton district Tran Quoc Cuong informed: "Tri Ton district has 1,336 temporary and dilapidated houses to be eliminated in 2025 (26 houses are for repair). Group 1 (39 houses) are houses of families with revolutionary contributions. With the determination of the locality, along with the cooperation of the armed forces and philanthropists, the district has so far completed and handed over to households".
Lieutenant Colonel Le Quoc Phong, Commander of the Tri Ton District Military Command, said: “The militia force helps to dismantle and relocate old houses; contributes manpower to the process of building new houses with all human and material resources, ensuring safety in all weather conditions. This is a very meaningful program, contributing to supporting families with housing difficulties to stabilize their lives soon. Understanding that, the officers and soldiers strive to carry out the assigned work, speed up the progress, and the sooner the completion, the more joy the people will have.”
Like many households living in a dilapidated, leaky house, Mrs. Tran Thi Ha Loan (residing in Vinh Phuoc commune, Tri Ton district) always feels anxious and fearful every time the weather changes. Her house is very small, the pillars and beams can no longer withstand the rain and sun. “Many nights while sleeping, hearing the sound of rain, I have to get up immediately, take a basin to catch the leaks. Now, thanks to the district’s departments, branches, organizations, and armed forces building a new house, I am very happy, no longer having to endure the rain and sun.”
Each completed house brings joy and emotion when the dream of a solid “home” becomes a reality - where children can study with peace of mind and families can work and produce with confidence. The new, spacious and warm houses have contributed to improving people’s lives, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity between the local army and people.
