Man City successfully recruited Reijnders. |
Transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano says Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan for €70m (£59m). The Dutch international agreed personal terms with City a few days ago. The two clubs will finalise the deal before announcing it.
The English giants want the Dutch midfielder in their squad before the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in mid-June. Therefore, they are willing to raise the player's price to close the deal soon.
At 26, Reijnders is one of the best central midfielders in Serie A 2024/25. In 37 domestic appearances, the Dutch international has scored 10 goals and contributed 4 assists. In the Champions League, Reijnders has added 3 goals. Reijnders' passing ability and strong physical foundation were what Man City lacked in midfield last season.
Tijjani Reijnders is the brother of Eliano Reijnders, who became an Indonesian citizen last year. Both have Indonesian blood through their mother.
After Reijnders, Man City continued to spend money to quickly close the deal for Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves. The transfer fee for this left-back is around 50 million pounds.
The Etihad team also targets Rayan Cherki and Morgan Gibbs-White for two other positions in midfield. This duo will cost Man City no less than 100 million pounds.
