Manchester United are stepping up their transfer game by continuing to raise their bid for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo.

After Brentford rejected an initial bid of around £55m, the Old Trafford outfit returned with an improved proposal, exceeding the £60m mark. This move shows the "Red Devils" are determined to strengthen their attack for the new season.

Coach Ruben Amorim sees Mbeumo as the next target in his attack-upgrading campaign, after Man United reached an agreement to sign Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Specifically, MU will activate Cunha's £62.5 million contract release clause and is expected to complete the deal right after the international break.

Bryan Mbeumo, 25, has enjoyed an impressive season, scoring 20 Premier League goals. His pace, determination and ability to roam wide are seen as an ideal addition to a squad desperate for change under Amorim.

Although Newcastle United have also expressed interest, according to sources close to the matter, Mbeumo is leaning towards joining Man United - a team he sees as the ideal step forward for his career.

By spending more than £120 million on two new attacking players, Man United are sending a clear message: they will not accept another season of stagnant attack like before, and are willing to do everything to bring new momentum to the attack.
