The ballet "The Barber of Seville", a work that was likened to an overture "born while the author was locked up", was a success.

The show features Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong,   Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Della Seta, along with ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam, once again marked the 50th anniversary of Italy - Vietnam diplomatic relations.

The capital's audience was delighted with the intense dances from "Figaro" by Artemis Danza in the classic ballet "The Barber of Seville".

In this meaningful comeback, the talented playwright Monica Casadei and the world- famous dance troupe Artemis Danza skillfully breathed modern life into the classic old story, bringing the audience of the capital a lively, graceful, and laughter-filled performance.

In contrast to the dryness and rigidity typical of diplomatic events, the performance "The Barber of Seville" brought a particularly vibrant and joyful atmosphere. The audience could let their souls follow the rhythmic movements of the dancers, sing along with the top dancers, and feel the breath of the distant land of Italy right in the heart of Hanoi .

Not only is tonight's performance a "revival" of a classic ballet, it is even more special because of choreographer Monica's bold choice of adaptation, turning a work with a traditional performance style into a modern "action ballet" with a contemporary feel.

This choice not only provides space for dancers to fully express their emotions and perspectives, but also makes the most of sound and lighting arrangements as well as costumes and props, so that the dancers' movements do not stop at interpreting the usual ballet language, but seem to show the soul of the character.

This subtle innovation brought to the capital's art-loving audience an emotional evening of graceful Cavatinas, sweet Serenades, and cheerful Duets. Especially the classic Aria "Largo al factotum".

Principal dancers Michelle Atoe, Samuele Arisci, Jessica D'Angelo, Silvia Di Stazio, Costanza Leporatti, Teresa Morisano, Mattia Molini, Christian Pellino, Salvatore Sciancalepore.

Perhaps it is not an exaggeration to say that tonight, the capital's art-loving hearts fully enjoyed the humorous atmosphere and wandered with Figaro in bursts of hearty laughter.

At the show, Hanoi audiences seemed to personally go through the funny and sad situations, and face the story's sublime turning points in the most realistic way.

And what could be better than an evening of immersing yourself in the artistic space, imbued with the breath of Italy through a top favorite play for more than two centuries. A perfect culmination of the "Opera bel canto" school - the traditional singing art of Italy.

The Italian newspaper La Nuova Sardegna wrote: "The colorful and original ballet action, created by the costumes of artist Daniela Usai and the music of the excellent composer Luca Vianini. The Artemis's Figaro was created through a collective effort, and is genderless - a completely different point from the classical ballet tradition.

The play not only addresses the cultural realities of the 19th century but also depicts the instability and precariousness of society at that time. The play has a strong visual impact and brings great emotional fluctuations to the audience."

The Italian newspaper La Nuova Sardegna commented that the colorful and unique ballet action, created by costumes by artist Daniela Usai and music by the excellent composer Luca Vianini, was created by the Artemis dance company's Figaro, which was created through a collective effort, and was gender-neutral - a completely different point from the classical ballet tradition.

The year 2023 is of particular importance in the relationship between Italy and Vietnam. The strong relationship between the two countries over the past 50 years has opened a period of increasingly deep development and cooperation, especially in the fields of culture and tourism with many encouraging achievements.

The return of the play "The Barber of Seville" can be considered a boost to bring the beauty of Italian culture closer to Vietnamese audiences in general and the capital's art lovers in particular. Thereby contributing to tightening the close relationship between the two countries, towards a peaceful, stable future, and dynamic, friendly relations.
