(Dan Tri) - With a controversial penalty in injury time, Man Utd lost 1-2 at West Ham in the match of round 9 of the 2024-25 Premier League. This was the "Red Devils'" fourth loss.
After last weekend's win over Brentford, Man Utd are looking to make it two wins in a row in the Premier League when they visit West Ham. Erik Ten Hag's side started impressively with a high-flying, attacking style of play.
In the second minute, Alejandro Garnacho was given a great chance by Bruno Fernandes to open the scoring but the Argentine hit the crossbar from a comfortable position at the top of the penalty area. In the first half, Garnacho had no less than 3 shots on goal against West Ham, but all were goalless.
Man Utd dominated possession and had more shots than their opponents, but the visitors' strikers were terrible. In the 32nd minute, Diogo Dalot even pushed the ball past goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, but then he shot the ball over the bar despite having an open goal in front of him.

Having squandered many scoring opportunities, Man Utd sadly entered the break with a draw. After the break, coach Julen Lopetegui decided to continuously change 3 players, these adjustments helped West Ham play better, they continuously had shots towards Man Utd's goal in the second half.
Although West Ham failed to have a shot on target in the first half of the second half, the home side's patience was rewarded in the 74th minute, Crysencio Summerville pouncing on a close-range rebound after Danny Ings' poor finish.
However, just 7 minutes after conceding, Man Utd equalized. In the 81st minute, Casemiro headed home Joshua Zirkzee's poor header, bringing Man Utd to a 1-1 draw. There are similarities between Casemiro's and Summerville's goals as both took advantage of their teammates' poor finishing.

The final minutes of the match were fierce. In the 87th minute, the referee suddenly stopped the match to review the video of the collision between Ings and Matthijs de Ligt in the Man Utd penalty area. After a few minutes, Mr. David Coote awarded the home team a penalty despite strong protests from the away team. On the 11m mark, Jarrod Bowen increased the score to 2-1 in the second minute of injury time.
The match had 12 minutes of extra time, but Man Utd were exhausted, and the Red Devils bench had no attacking players left as Zirkzee and Amad Diallo had been used. Unable to rise up, Man Utd had to bitterly leave London empty-handed.
