On the evening of May 8th, a representative from Manulife shared that SCB Bank customers who participated in the Tam An Dau Tu insurance product and submitted complaints before April 30th are currently in discussions with Manulife to resolve their claims.
“ Immediately after the recent holiday, we began organizing in-person meetings with customers who had filed complaints by the deadline of April 30th. We have scheduled several meetings for May 2023,” a Manulife representative stated.

A Manulife representative stated that, as of May 7th, the company had met with approximately 20 customers to discuss solutions and had initially achieved positive results.
Manulife's goal is to complete dialogues with SCB Bank customers who submitted complaints before April 30th and find a solution for them before June 30th.
“ Of course, this was not an easy decision, so the company needed a lot of time to consider it. These actions will help customers and the company continue to move forward together, ” a Manulife representative shared.
According to the insurance company, the outcome of a claim will be determined based on the company's assessment, which includes factors such as: the completeness and legality of the insurance contract documents; the results of interviews and confrontations with relevant consultants and bank employees; information provided by the customer in the complaint and during direct communication, along with other relevant evidence or factors that need to be considered.
Following the face-to-face dialogue, both parties will sign a complaint resolution agreement with simple and clear terms, reflecting mutual agreement on the outcome of the customer's complaint and protecting the rights of both sides.

Previously, hundreds of customers accused employees of SCB Bank and Manulife of numerous violations, turning savings investment contracts into life insurance policies. The Ho Chi Minh City Police are coordinating the verification and will transfer the case to the Ministry of Public Security for handling and resolution as per regulations.
Some customers who purchased the Tam An Investment product said they went to Manulife's transaction points to cancel their contracts, and Manulife promised to refund the money they had paid. However, customers had to commit to not filing any complaints or lawsuits against the company.
Following the news that Manulife decided to cancel contracts for some individuals, many customers who purchased the Tam An Dau Tu (Investment Peace of Mind) product believe that the exact amount they will receive back needs to be clarified. Customers believe that the amount they will receive back may be very small compared to the actual amount they paid.
Some customers said they had also negotiated with Manulife, but the amount they could get back was less than one-third of the amount they had paid, resulting in losses of hundreds of millions of dong. Many people are determined not to negotiate with Manulife and will fight to the end for this case.
