After nearly 80 years since the first generation, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class entered its 6th generation and was officially launched in the Vietnamese market on October 16. Still the sales pillar in the Mercedes-Benz luxury sedan group, the new E-Class shifts its focus to technology experience, with two highlights never before seen in the segment in Vietnam: a selfie camera integrated into the MBUX Superscreen and a Digital Vent Control self-rotating air-conditioning vent system.
The product portfolio includes the E 200 Avantgarde (VND 2.449 billion), E 200 Exclusive (VND 2.589 billion) and E 300 AMG (VND 3.209 billion). Compared to the previous generation, the E 180 version has been removed. All three use a 2.0L mild-hybrid 48V engine, 9G-Tronic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Multi-style design language, closely following business tastes
The new E-Class continues to follow the philosophy of “each version has its own personality” to serve a variety of aesthetic tastes: modern and dynamic Avantgarde, classic and elegant Exclusive and sporty AMG. The increased size and wheelbase help to balance the body proportions and improve interior space.
Compared to rivals such as the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6/A7, Lexus ES or Volvo S90, the E-Class maintains its traditional luxury, emphasizing sophistication in details and comfort instead of too strong visual effects. In the AMG version, the sporty style is clearly expressed to compete directly with the performance-oriented variants in the segment.

Digital cabin with MBUX Superscreen and multi-sensory experience
The most notable feature is the MBUX Superscreen that spans the dashboard, integrating a selfie camera – a feature that appears for the first time on a Mercedes model sold in Vietnam. This is not a “selfie” camera in the sense of pure entertainment, but serves communication and personalization: online meetings via Zoom, recording Vlogs when the car stops, or facial recognition to automatically set up seats, lighting, and music according to the driver’s profile.

In addition, the Digital Vent Control automatic air conditioning vent system is a completely new feature of Mercedes-Benz on a global scale and is available for the first time in the E-Class. The vent can automatically adjust the direction and intensity according to the seat position, cabin temperature and driving mode; users can also control it via the touch screen or by voice.

The 64-color interior ambient lighting system features Sound Visualization mode, which synchronizes bass beats to create lighting effects with music, emphasizing the multi-sensory experience in the cabin. With a longer wheelbase, the cabin is more spacious than the previous generation, increasing comfort for rear seat passengers.
Performance and operation: 2.0L mild-hybrid, 9-speed and rear-wheel drive
All three versions use a 2.0L mild-hybrid 48V engine, combined with a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive - a configuration that focuses on smoothness and efficiency. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the E 200 (Avantgarde/Exclusive) has a capacity of 204 horsepower, maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1,600–4,000 rpm; consumption of 7.9 liters/100 km. The E 300 AMG version has a capacity of 258 horsepower, torque of 400 Nm at 3,200–4,000 rpm; consumption of 8.9 liters/100 km.
The 48V mild-hybrid setup supports the combustion engine at low rpm and when shifting gears, thereby improving smoothness and fuel economy in suitable operating conditions. Mercedes-Benz's 9-speed gearbox is known for its smooth gear changes and low rpm at cruising speeds. With rear-wheel drive, the E-Class maintains its traditional "saloon" character, balancing smoothness with body stability when cornering at moderate speeds.

Safety and lighting technology
Digital Light headlights are one of the outstanding technologies, allowing precise illumination of the necessary road section while limiting glare to oncoming vehicles, and can even project warning symbols (signs, pedestrians) onto the road surface. This is a useful driver assistance tool in complex night and weather conditions.

The cabin camera on the new E-Class is open for communication and entertainment purposes when appropriate, unlike most competitors in Vietnam that use cameras mainly to monitor the driver. According to current information, models such as the BMW 7 Series/i7, Audi A8/Q8 e-tron, Volvo or Lexus often limit the cabin camera for safety purposes; while the E-Class adds the ability to make video calls, record or recognize faces for personalization.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class competes directly with the BMW 5 Series (VND 2.589–3.099 billion), along with rivals Audi A6/A7 (from VND 2.299 billion), Lexus ES (VND 2.360 billion) and Volvo S90 (from VND 2.32 billion). With a history of assembling the E-Class in Vietnam since 1996, this model continues to target business and middle-class customers who love technology, and value elegance and comfort.
Conclusion: Technological innovation to lead the segment
The new generation E-Class stands out thanks to two distinctive features in Vietnam: the selfie camera integrated in the MBUX Superscreen and the Digital Vent Control self-rotating air-conditioning vents. A more spacious interior, an emotional light-sound experience and a familiar dynamic configuration (2.0L mild-hybrid, 9-speed, rear-wheel drive) create a balanced product package.
Pros: unique entertainment technology – personalization, Digital Light lighting system, quality finish and diverse style options. Cons: price approaching the upper group in the segment when compared to the premium version. With its current positioning, the new E-Class reinforces the image of a luxury sedan for users who value technology and everyday sophistication.
