Pepper price today November 3: Forming a new price level

Last week, domestic pepper prices continued to increase sharply, increasing by 3,500 to 5,000 VND/kg compared to the previous week. In particular, pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong (Lam Dong province) increased by a total of 5,000 VND/kg, followed by Binh Phuoc (Dong Nai province) with an increase of 4,000 VND/kg, in Gia Lai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (Ho Chi Minh City), pepper prices increased by 3,500 VND/kg.

Domestic pepper prices are expected to remain high due to the lack of new crop supply and low domestic supply. Growers are holding onto their stocks waiting for better prices, reducing selling pressure and helping to keep the market stable.

In the first 9 months of 2025, Vietnam exported about 188,000 tons of pepper, reaching 1.27 billion USD. Although the volume decreased by 6.3%, the value increased by 28.7% thanks to the average export price reaching 6,774 USD/ton, 37% higher than the previous year.

The US imposition of a 40% tax on transit goods has caused Vietnamese businesses to limit imports of raw pepper from Brazil, prioritizing domestic purchases. Along with low inventories, domestic pepper prices are kept around 150,000 - 151,000 VND/kg, forming a new price level for the market.

World pepper prices are stable today, ending the trading week with mixed fluctuations. Indonesian pepper prices increased slightly, Malaysian prices decreased sharply, while other countries remained unchanged. The market is in a price holding phase, reflecting a relatively balanced supply and demand.

In 2025, the pepper market is forecast to remain stable despite limited supply. Demand from major markets remains high, helping export prices fluctuate only slightly. Close coordination between buyers and exporters and reasonable inventory management helps pepper prices not fluctuate strongly.

The market is expected to recover by 2026 thanks to favorable weather and improved yields. However, pepper production is still affected by extreme weather, high temperatures and increased pests and diseases. Pepper-growing countries are adopting sustainable farming techniques and using more resistant varieties.

The International Pepper Community (IPC) is promoting technical cooperation and digital transformation through the IPC PepperLink platform. This tool helps update market information, traceability and strengthen the role of farmers in the supply chain. IPC's strategy is towards sustainable development, prioritizing adaptability over production expansion.
