Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attends the Patriotic Emulation Congress of An Giang province

On the morning of November 3, in Long Xuyen ward, An Giang Provincial People's Committee organized the first Patriotic Emulation Congress for the period 2025 - 2030. The Congress is of special importance, creating new momentum and spirit, bringing An Giang province to develop rapidly and sustainably, entering a new era with the country. Vice President, First Vice President of the Central Emulation and Reward Council Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended and directed the Congress. Also attending the ceremony were representatives of central departments, ministries and branches; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Labor Heroes in the renovation period and 281 delegates representing collectives and individuals who are typical, advanced and outstanding examples in the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020 - 2025.

At the Congress, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan acknowledged and commended the achievements in the emulation movement and commendation work of An Giang province over the past 5 years. In particular, the economy has always maintained a stable growth rate; the potentials and advantages of the locality such as high-tech agriculture, processing industry, marine economy, tourism and border trade economy have been gradually promoted effectively.

In particular, the province's poverty rate is lower than the national average; the two-level local government model is initially stable and operates effectively; national defense and security are ensured; national sovereignty and security of borders, seas and islands are maintained... These results not only affirm the persistent efforts, solidarity and high determination of the entire political system but also vivid evidence of the role and results of patriotic emulation movements.

The Vice President stated that after the merger, An Giang will become the largest province in the country, with a particularly important strategic position in terms of economy, national defense, security and foreign affairs. The province has a system of seaports, international border gates, and inter-regional highways that are being invested in and completed, creating many conditions for An Giang to accelerate its development and become a new growth pole of the Mekong Delta. However, the province faces difficulties and challenges such as: The economic and social infrastructure serving the economic transformation is not yet synchronous; the economic structure is shifting slowly. The security and order situation and cross-border crimes are still complicated...

To successfully achieve the goal of An Giang becoming a fairly developed province of the country by 2030, a strong maritime economic center of the country, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan requested that the Party Committee, government, army and people of An Giang province continue to promote good traditions and results, achievements, overcome difficulties and limitations, draw experiences in Party building and state management; join hands and unite to accelerate, break through for rapid and sustainable development. The province needs to invest heavily in developing culture, health, education, human resources and constantly improve the quality of life and happiness of the people; strengthen the protection of sovereignty over borders, mainland territory and islands. In particular, An Giang needs to be determined to perform well the assigned tasks, contributing to Vietnam's successful organization of APEC Year 2027.

The Vice President believes that in the coming time, the patriotic emulation movement in the province will continue to spread strongly, arousing pride, and the contingent of cadres, party members and people of the whole province will turn An Giang into a comprehensively developed and prosperous province of the Mekong Delta region and the whole country.

In the past 5 years, with the spirit of emulation to successfully carry out the task of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, the patriotic emulation movement of An Giang province has developed strongly and deeply, becoming a flag calling on all people to participate in building, protecting and developing An Giang province. In particular, many emulation movements have been enthusiastically responded by the people, bringing positive results, contributing to creating momentum in production and business, creative labor, creating a driving force to promote socio-economic development.

The average economic growth rate for the past 5 years is estimated at 6.2%, and in the first 6 months of 2025, the province's economy after the merger reached 8.12%, one of 17 provinces and cities with a growth rate of over 8%. The scale of the economy continues to expand, and the economic structure shifts in the right direction. GRDP per capita has increased steadily over the years, contributing to improving people's lives and increasing labor productivity in the province.

Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Ho Van Mung, emphasized that only through emulation can we create breakthroughs and mobilize huge social resources for socio-economic development. In particular, through emulation, we can create a favorable environment for innovation and creativity. An Giang continues to create more favorable conditions for the patriotic emulation movement to become the mainstream of society.

With the motto "One An Giang - One vision - One will - One belief in victory", the Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province called on cadres, civil servants, public employees, soldiers of the armed forces, businessmen, workers and people to unite, make efforts to overcome all difficulties, turn challenges into opportunities, focus on striving to achieve the highest results in the socio-economic development targets and tasks of the province, period 2025 - 2030, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.

At the ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented 200 million VND from the Vietnam Children's Fund to An Giang province and gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and Heroes of the People's Armed Forces.

The Congress honored 62 typical, advanced collectives and individuals in the province's patriotic emulation movements for the 2020-2025 period./.
