A bridge of love for those in difficult circumstances

By mobilizing social resources to join hands to help, the Fatherland Front at all levels in Can Tho City has become a bridge of affection between kind hearts and people in difficult circumstances, spreading the spirit of solidarity and sharing in the community.

Having stable housing, Ms. Nguyen Be Xuan (right cover) in Vi Tan ward feels secure in working to improve her life.

Vi Tan Ward Front has stepped up propaganda and mobilized philanthropists inside and outside the area to actively respond to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind". From 2024 to now, the Ward Front has coordinated to mobilize the "For the Poor" Fund and social welfare for more than 3 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Cam Lua, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vi Tan Ward, informed that from the mobilized funds, the Ward Front supported production capital for poor and near-poor households, and awarded scholarships to students in difficult circumstances. The unit also mobilized to build 82 Great Unity houses and charity houses and repaired 32 houses, with a total value of more than 4.7 billion VND.

The new house of Mrs. Nguyen Be Xuan in Vi Tan Ward is a vivid proof of that sharing. At the age of 61, she still earns a living by selling lottery tickets, with an unstable income, unable to afford to repair her old, dilapidated house. In early 2025, the Ward Front mobilized 60 million VND in support for her to build a new, spacious and solid house.

“The first few days I moved into my new house, I was so happy I couldn’t sleep. At 61 years old, I finally have such a decent house. I can’t express my joy,” Ms. Xuan said.

Not only in Vi Tan ward, many other localities in Can Tho city have also strongly promoted the spirit of mutual love. From 2024 to now, Thanh Hoa Commune Front has coordinated to mobilize nearly 15 billion VND from the "For the Poor" Fund and social security. Thanks to that, the commune has built and repaired 57 gratitude houses, Great Unity houses, and given more than 1,500 gifts to support policy families, meritorious people, students, with a total value of 457 million VND.

Mr. Tran Van Phuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa commune, affirmed: "We always promptly advise the Party Committee and coordinate with the government to mobilize maximum social resources to help the poor, especially vulnerable groups in the area."

Thanks to the synchronous participation of the entire system, the mobilization of the "For the Poor" Fund and social security in Can Tho has achieved many remarkable results. From 2024 to now, the Front at all levels in the city has coordinated to mobilize more than 35.5 billion VND for social security programs and more than 132 billion VND for the "For the Poor" Fund.

From social resources, the Fatherland Front at all levels has built and repaired 920 Great Solidarity houses, with a total value of more than 47.2 billion VND; coordinated with member organizations and religious establishments to mobilize more than 12,200 gifts, worth nearly 5.7 billion VND to give to policy families, poor households, near-poor households, and households in especially difficult circumstances...

Mr. Tran Van Chinh, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City Fatherland Front Committee, said that in response to the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind", the Front at all levels presided over and coordinated the launching of a call for the participation of organizations, individuals, and philanthropists inside and outside the area to contribute to the "For the Poor" Fund and social security. From there, it created social consensus, promoted the spirit of mutual love and affection of all classes of people to take care of and improve the lives of the poor.

Continuing to promote those results, the Front system in the city in general and each cadre doing Front work in particular have been and are continuing to call, mobilize, and gather the social community to join hands to care for and support poor households and people in difficult circumstances, so that no one is left behind, so that everyone can be warm, prosperous, and happy.
