Khanh Hoa Department of Construction has just sent a document to departments, offices, affiliated units and contractors managing and maintaining roads in the province, requesting them to continue handling and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 12 and deploying solutions to respond to rain and storms in the province in the coming time.

According to forecasts in the coming days, the South Central region, including Khanh Hoa province, is likely to experience widespread heavy rain, with a high risk of landslides and flooding in low-lying areas, riverside areas, and areas with steep terrain. In this situation, to proactively respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, ensure smooth traffic and safety for people and vehicles, the Department of Construction requires road management and maintenance units in the province to continue to handle and immediately fix landslides, clear rocks, fallen trees, clear drainage ditches and streams; temporarily repair road surfaces and damaged structures to ensure safe and smooth traffic. In particular, priority will be given to handling sections of national and provincial highways with high traffic volume and vulnerable areas, with potential risks and insecurity; arrange security forces, signs, barriers and warning lights in areas under construction or at risk of continuing landslides; Absolutely ensure safety during the repair and traffic process; closely monitor the development of storms and rains, check and supervise key locations to proactively respond and repair in a timely manner; immediately report any unusual situations or major damage to the Traffic Works Maintenance Management Board and the Department of Construction for direction and handling. Units coordinate with local authorities to ensure the safety of people in areas at risk of landslides, recommend timely evacuation and protect the safety of works and traffic infrastructure.

The Department of Construction assigned the Traffic Works Maintenance Management Board to assign staff to directly monitor the scene, proactively inspect, guide, and urge the route management units to quickly fix the incident, and soon restore the route's operating capacity; make statistics and establish detailed damage volumes for road sections that have been eroded, damaged, or degraded due to the impact of storms and rains to prepare a summary report, propose funding needs for repair and send them to the Department of Construction for synthesis, advise the Provincial People's Committee to consider and supplement funding for implementation. The Inland Waterways Port Authority strengthens inspection and supervision of transport activities and inland waterway port operations, especially in areas with prolonged heavy rain, high water levels, and strong winds; temporarily suspend vehicle operations in dangerous areas, and instruct vehicle owners to anchor safely to avoid incidents of sinking, capsizing, or collision.
