Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien Metro welcomes nearly 400,000 passengers after 4 days

According to a report from Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC), on December 25, metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) operated as planned with 200 trains, ensuring an average interval of 12 minutes during normal hours and 8 minutes during rush hours.

This is an encouraging result as the system operates stably and meets the increasing travel needs of the people.

Passenger numbers continued to exceed the original plan. A total of 115,962 passengers used the metro during the day, three times the expected target (38,939). On average, each train carried about 580 passengers. These figures show that people are gradually becoming accustomed to using the metro to go to work, school and sightseeing.

In total, from December 22 to December 25, metro line No. 1 transported 394,967 passengers, an output of 274.1% compared to the plan, and carried out 797 train trips, an output of 107.7% compared to the plan.

Ben Thanh Station continues to be a popular tourist attraction, with many people coming to experience the city’s first metro line. The system is rated as operating smoothly, ensuring schedules and providing convenience to passengers.

By maintaining 9 trains operating continuously from 5am to late at night, Metro Line 1 is demonstrating its ability to flexibly meet public transport needs. This not only reduces pressure on the road transport system but also contributes to promoting a green lifestyle and minimizing environmental pollution.

HURC affirms that it will continue to monitor the operation situation and promptly adjust the train frequency to best serve the travel needs of the people. The initial success of Metro Line 1 is an important stepping stone for the next urban railway projects in Ho Chi Minh City, opening up the future of modern and sustainable public transport.
