HCMC Metro Line 1 stops selling paper tickets at 5 stations

HCMC Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will stop selling paper tickets at Thao Dien, An Phu, Binh Thai, Thu Duc, and High-Tech Park stations from November 1. Passengers can buy tickets at machines and automatic kiosks.

On October 29, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Company No. 1 issued a notice to stop selling paper tickets printed with QR codes at ticket counters and guide students to register for monthly tickets who need to use Metro No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).

Accordingly, from November 1, Urban Railway Company No. 1 will stop selling paper tickets with QR codes at ticket counters at Thao Dien, An Phu, Binh Thai, Thu Duc, and High-Tech Park stations.

Passengers can purchase train tickets using the company's current payment methods, including purchasing tickets at automatic ticket machines. Buyers can also pay via bank cards, e-wallets or via the HCMC Metro HURC application.

In case of assistance, metro users can contact station staff directly for instructions.

In addition, from November 1, student passengers who want to use Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro can register for monthly tickets in 3 steps.

First, customers register for priority subjects on the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Citizen application.

Next, students go to one of the stations, including: City Theater, Tan Cang, Phuoc Long, National University to link their chip-embedded ID card on the HCMC Metro HURC application. Passengers need to present their student card (or certificate) or chip-embedded ID card for station staff to verify.

Once the information is verified, passengers who purchase monthly student tickets on the HCMC Metro HURC app will use their chip-embedded ID to board the train. When using a monthly ticket, if they lose their ID, they can use the QR code on the HCMC Metro HURC app to continue taking the train.

HCMC Urban Railway Company No. 1 also noted that single-trip tickets at automatic ticket vending machines (TVM), automatic ticket kiosks, ticket counters or HCMC Metro HURC application are only valid on the day of purchase. If the ticket expires and is not used, the buyer will not be refunded in any case.

From November 1, Urban Railway Company No. 1 ended the pilot phase and officially allowed to bring personal folding bicycles on the train. Personal folding bicycles must be folded neatly in a bag, not used in the station area and on the train, meet the size regulations (not exceeding 120x70x40cm), not obstruct the space on the train and ensure operational safety.
