In a LinkedIn post, Microsoft CTO Kevin Scott said Taylor will take on the role of corporate vice president and deputy chief technology officer to help “build the next set of systems to advance AI technologies,” according to The Verge .

Taylor worked at Meta from 2009 to 2022, most recently as the company’s vice president of infrastructure. According to his LinkedIn profile, he handled AI, data, and privacy infrastructure and managed the company’s server budget.
For now, Microsoft and OpenAI still need more powerful hardware to keep up with rapidly evolving AI systems. Last month, a report from The Information said Microsoft and OpenAI want to build a $100 billion supercomputer, dubbed “Stargate,” to power OpenAI’s models.

In March, Microsoft announced it had hired Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of Google DeepMind, as the CEO of its new consumer AI division, overseeing Copilot, Bing, and Edge products.
