Mr. Sung A Tu - Vice Chairman of Mo De Commune People's Committee said: "The locality has focused on propagating and mobilizing people to exploit and effectively promote local potentials and strengths in economic development as well as transforming the structure of crops and livestock, intensively increasing the number of crops combined with applying scientific and technical advances and mechanization in production, following the motto of increasing income per unit area. At the same time, the commune has also promptly and effectively implemented the State's policies to support production, livestock, and social security for the people, creating both material and spiritual motivation, promoting economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction".
With 440 hectares of rice fields, the commune has focused on coordinating with specialized agencies and people to repair and harden the canal and irrigation system to ensure water supply for the fields; propagate and mobilize people to introduce high-quality hybrid rice and pure rice varieties for cultivation and increase the area for 2 crops/year to 75/440 hectares.
In addition to rice, people also plant high-yield hybrid corn varieties on an area of over 200 hectares each year. Thanks to that, the total grain output of the commune in 2024 will reach over 48,000 tons, of which rice output alone will reach over 28,000 tons.
Mr. Mua A Ho, Hang Phu Loa village shared: "Previously, my family mainly grew one crop of low-yield local rice varieties. Thanks to growing hybrid rice varieties and adding a part of the area to grow spring crops, each year, my family harvests over 50 bags of rice, not only enough to eat all year round but also to develop livestock farming."
In addition to agricultural production, Mo De has promoted its hilly land strength to develop livestock farming. In particular, the locality has effectively implemented support policies according to Resolution No. 69 of the Provincial People's Council. After nearly 5 years of implementation, the whole commune has developed more than 50 livestock farming models according to Resolution No. 69.
In the first phase of 2025 alone, 8 models will be implemented, including: 5 models of raising buffalo and cows with a scale of 10 or more/model and 3 models of raising pigs with a scale of 3 sows and 20 or more pigs/model, helping the commune maintain the current main livestock herd of 7,900 heads, creating a premise for the commune to strive for a total main livestock herd of over 8,700 heads by the end of the year.
Mr. Sung A Dinh, Na Hang village shared: "Implementing the model of raising buffaloes and cows on a scale of 10 or more has helped my family's economy develop stably and escape poverty. Many other households in the commune also have the conditions to expand their livestock scale thanks to the support of the State."
In addition, vocational training and job creation for rural workers are also of interest to the commune, promoting the shift of labor from agriculture to non-agriculture.
In particular, the locality is managing and protecting over 3,830 hectares of natural forests, bringing people over 2.5 billion VND in revenue from forest environmental service fees each year; taking advantage of areas under forest canopy to plant cardamom, amomum, and hawthorn to increase revenue. At this time, the commune is speeding up the implementation of eliminating 60 dilapidated houses by 2025, to contribute to rapid and sustainable poverty reduction.
Thanks to the rapid and timely implementation of the State's investment and support policies for beneficiaries, along with the efforts of the people, by the end of 2024, the number of poor households in the commune decreased to 368. In 2025, the locality strives to reduce the number of poor households by 82.
