Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Deputy General Director of Minh Tien Group Joint Stock Company - Son La Branch, said: More than 30 years ago, Minh Tien Group formed the idea of connecting growers, partners and coffee drinkers through a closed chain of cultivation - processing - consumption. Minh Tien Group works side by side with thousands of farming households, sending a team of managers and engineers to provide technical supervision and consultancy; supporting seedlings and fertilizers for production in the direction of organic agriculture , gradually building and developing standard raw material processing areas.

Previously, farmers harvested coffee by stripping branches, which directly affected the productivity and quality of the coffee due to the high proportion of green berries. Since being trained and guided by Minh Tien Group technicians on the selective picking process, farmers have gradually changed their harvesting habits, only picking red ripe coffee.

Mr. Quang Van Dien, Director of Chieng Xet Agricultural Cooperative, Phieng Tam village, Chieng Den commune, Son La city, shared: The cooperative has 11 members, with a scale of 50 hectares of coffee cultivated according to VietGAP production process. From September 2023, the cooperative signed a contract to link production and product consumption with Minh Tien Group Joint Stock Company - Son La Branch. The members and I were trained and instructed by the Company on how to take care of Arabica coffee to ensure export standards, improve coffee quality, such as using organic fertilizers instead of inorganic fertilizers, and only harvesting when the coffee berries are red and ripe. At the beginning of this year's crop, fresh coffee berries were harvested according to the correct techniques and standards. The Company purchased them at 12,000 VND/kg, 2,000-3,000 VND/kg higher than the market price.

The company has a coffee processing factory in Sang village, Chieng Xom commune, Son La city, with a capacity of 15,000 tons of fresh coffee beans/year and a coffee processing factory in Quyet Tam ward, with a capacity of 20,000 tons/year; deep processing of 80-100 tons/year; The company is granted the right to use the geographical indication of Son La Coffee. Up to now, the company has signed contracts to produce and consume coffee products meeting 4C and UTZ standards with 1,415 households, with a scale of 1,270 hectares, ensuring export standards. In addition, the company has also been granted 2,934 hectares of production according to 4C standards for coffee producing households in Son La and Dien Bien.

The Company always pays attention to and focuses on environmental protection in coffee processing and preparation; promotes production linkage households to implement coffee wastewater treatment models, not discharging directly into the environment. At the same time, increase investment in science and technology at the factory, build a strict control process on waste discharge at the factory to protect water sources, build a system to reuse coffee husks, and treat gas to create resource circulation, avoiding waste and waste.

Processed coffee husks are produced into organic fertilizer.

The company built a factory to produce organic microbial fertilizers in Chieng Xom commune according to the circular economic model; organic microbial fertilizers are supplied to Mai Son coffee growing area and Son La city. Coffee processing factories have wastewater treatment systems, using recycled water to save water; using coffee husks as fuel for drying coffee, with smoke and dust filtering technology before releasing into the environment.

Ms. Vu Thi Xuan, Sub-area 1, Hat Lot Town, shared: I am particularly impressed with coffee products and products made from coffee husks to make plastic bags, toothpicks, plates, spoons, etc. for one-time use. These products, which contribute to increasing the value of coffee and are safe for health and friendly to the environment, need to continue to be replicated.
