Teeth and hair are "spiritual corners"
One day in mid-June, the hospital treatment area corridor suddenly became bustling with the program "Free haircut - Connecting love" organized by the Friendship Hospital Union in collaboration with hair stylists.
Many patients and their relatives saw the "interesting" activity and stopped by to watch. Encouraged by the people around them, they immediately lost their shyness and sat down to be served.
More than 100 patients, their families and medical staff were served thoughtfully and attentively. The groomed hair not only brought a neat appearance but also acted as a spiritual therapy, helping patients feel cared for and shared in the challenging treatment journey.

Not only Mr. Thanh, but many patients and their families also expressed their hope that there will be more meaningful activities like this to support and encourage those undergoing long-term treatment in the hospital.
Talking with Dr. Nguyen Viet Phuong, Head of the Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery, Chairman of the Labor Union of Friendship Hospital, it is known that patient care does not stop at examination and treatment but also includes attention to the spirit and appearance of the patient. For patients, sometimes just a little change in self-image can help lift their spirits, thereby making the recovery process more effective.

The special feature of the program is that it is completely free and there are no selection criteria. Dr. Phuong shared: “Anyone who comes will be served, without discrimination. Not only for patients, the program also targets patients' families as well as medical staff, who are often away from their families, with limited income. That demonstrates the true spirit of volunteerism, community spirit and strong influence."
Over the years, in addition to the haircut program, the hospital has had many other programs such as bringing music to patients, calling for donations to support patients in difficult circumstances or medical staff with serious illnesses.
Orientation towards high quality patient care
Small actions such as free haircuts for inpatients or support from medical staff demonstrate a medical philosophy: caring for patients from the physical to the mental. This is the foundation for the hospital to build an integrated care model, focusing on the patient.
Dr. Nguyen The Anh, senior physician, Director of Friendship Hospital, shared: "Modern medicine is not only about curing diseases but also about comprehensive care, from physical to mental health, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly."

Friendship Hospital aims to build a comprehensive development strategy, aiming at high-quality medical services, especially in the context of a rapidly aging population and increasing demand for treatment of complex diseases.
One of the key directions is the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical examination and treatment management and imaging diagnosis, in which the hospital has put into use a new generation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system integrated with AI. This system allows for the automation of the imaging process, helping to shorten processing time and reduce errors in reading results.
By applying AI to support pattern recognition and similar pathological data, diagnosis becomes faster and more accurate, and the system can even recommend a suitable imaging program for each patient, including elderly patients.

Along with improving professional capacity and investing in modern equipment systems, Friendship Hospital promotes the model of on-demand examination and comprehensive health care, especially for the elderly, people with chronic diseases and groups in need of high-quality periodic health monitoring.
In the context of increasingly diverse healthcare needs, Friendship Hospital is aiming for a "smart hospital" model, updating new techniques and approaching integrated care models. This is also a development direction in line with the National Strategy on Elderly Care, digital transformation of the healthcare sector and integration with modern medicine in the world .
