The Ministry of Construction has just reported to the Prime Minister on the implementation of important national and key projects.
According to the Ministry of Construction, to date, the total length of expressways nationwide that have been completed and put into operation has reached nearly 2,270km. According to the plan, from now until the end of the year, the Ministry of Construction and localities need to complete more than 700km of expressways.
Of the more than 700 km of expressways nearing completion, 14 projects are managed by the Ministry of Construction and 11 projects are managed by local authorities. It is expected that by August 19, the main routes of 6 expressway projects with a total length of more than 200 km will be completed.
In the report to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Construction said that some expressway projects are still behind schedule, such as: Component 3 project, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3; Component 1 project Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang . The Ministry of Construction requested that the competent authorities closely follow the implementation progress, continue to direct investors and contractors to organize construction in "3 shifts", proactively remove difficulties, apply technical solutions to optimize construction time, and ensure completion this year.

On July 31, at the Conference of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector, and the preliminary summary of the peak emulation period "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000km of expressways", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that we must race against time, only discuss work, not retreat and only do better, with the highest sense of responsibility, the spirit of the August Revolution, with orders from the heart, resolutely complete the goal of having at least 3,000km of expressways by the end of this year.
According to the head of the Government, this time marks exactly one month since the whole country put into operation the two-level local government model; although facing many difficulties and challenges, overall, the local government initially operated stably, smoothly, promptly, without leaving any management gaps and better serving the people and businesses; ensuring political security and social order and safety.
According to Decision No. 12/QD-TTg dated January 3, 2025 of the Prime Minister (supplementing Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2021) approving the adjustment of the Road Network Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the whole country will have 43 expressways with a length of more than 9,230 km by 2050. Of which, expressways with investment roadmaps before 2030 will reach more than 6,750 km) and after 2030 will be 2,480 km.
