There are over 41,000 candidates registering for 10 or more wishes.

This morning (August 14), information from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade said that this year the number of candidates registering for admission to the school has increased sharply.

Specifically, data from the General Admission System of the Ministry of Education and Training shows that the total number of applications to the school is 178,294. Of which, 13,308 are first-choice, 16,359 are second-choice, and 17,192 are third-choice.

Notably, data on candidates registering for admission to the school also shows that there are up to 41,307 candidates registering for 10 or more wishes.

Of which, the two majors with the highest number of registered candidates are logistics and supply chain management, and marketing.

Sharing about this data, Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the school's Admissions and Communications Center, said that the number of applications for admission to the school this year increased to a record high (nearly 2.5 times higher than last year).

The main reason, according to Master Son, is that there is no longer early admission, all methods are implemented simultaneously in the first round. Meanwhile, last year, candidates who had early admission only had to re-register their eligible admission wishes in the system if they did not want to register for other wishes.

"Therefore, this year candidates tend to register many wishes to increase their chances of being admitted, leading to an increase in the number of applications to schools," said Master Son.

The general situation is also shown through statistics of the Ministry of Education and Training, this year there are 849,544 candidates registered for admission with 7,615,560 wishes. The average number of wishes registered for admission per candidate is 8.96 (higher than the average of 5 wishes per candidate last year).

Benchmarks in sharp bullish reversal?

However, Master Pham Thai Son said that compared to last year, the benchmark scores of the school's majors this year are unlikely to increase sharply. Master Son even said that the benchmark scores of many majors will still decrease due to the decrease in the high school graduation exam scores of many subjects, especially the subjects in the B00 group (math-chemistry-biology) which is used to consider admission to many majors of the school.

"Not to mention, the school's admission data shows that many candidates applying to the school do not have high scores. If last year, most of the candidates applying to the school had scores between 17 and 24 points, this year it is lower," said the Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade will recruit students using 5 methods: recruiting based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam; recruiting using the results of high school studies of grades 10, 11 and 12; recruiting using the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025; recruiting based on the results of the specialized competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education combined with high school study results according to the subject groups corresponding to each major; direct recruiting according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The minimum score for admission based on the high school graduation exam scores this year for all majors is 16. For the two majors in the field of law, the minimum score is 18. The minimum score for admission based on the high school academic scores for all majors is 18-20; the minimum score for the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test is between 600-720; and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's specialized competency assessment test is 5 points.

In 2024, the admission score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade based on the high school graduation exam score will be from 17 to 24.5, the highest in marketing. Following are the two majors of e-commerce, logistics and supply chain management with the same score of 23.75. The remaining majors have admission scores of 17 to 23.25.
