According to the Quality Management Department of the Ministry of Education and Training, on the night of September 5th, they received information about the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the 2024 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI). The Vietnamese national team consisted of 4 students, and all 4 students won medals: 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal, and 1 Bronze Medal.

Specifically, as follows:
1. Pham Cong Minh , a 12th-grade student from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences , Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi: Gold Medal ;
2. Hoang Xuan Bach , a 11th-grade student from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi : Gold Medal ;
3. Nguyen Huu Tuan , a 10th-grade student from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi: Silver Medal ;
4. Pham Ngoc Trung , a 12th-grade student from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi: Bronze Medal .

The 36th International Olympiad (IOI) was held in person from September 1st to September 6th, 2024, in Alexandria, Egypt. The 2024 IOI saw the participation of 353 contestants from 91 countries and territories (in addition to Russia, Belarus, and Australia competing under the Olympic flag), and 9 contestants competing online from Israel, Iran, and Germany.
With 100% of its contestants winning medals, the Vietnamese IOI national team is among the top four countries and territories in the overall medal standings, after the United States, Japan, and Poland (according to the results published on the IOI 2024 Organizing Committee website, excluding the Russian and Israeli IOI teams).
In 2023, the Vietnamese IOI team was among the top 9 countries in terms of overall medal standings, winning 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals, and 1 Bronze Medal.
According to the IOI 2024 Council regulations, the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) has two official competition days. On each day, contestants complete a 5-hour computer programming test and solve three problems of varying content. Results are automatically graded online, and score sheets are published online throughout the two competition days.

This year's exam is highly challenging, requiring candidates to apply their knowledge flexibly and demonstrate great creativity. With the rapid development of the digital age, countries are increasingly investing in their teams, and the competition among nations is intensifying in this competition.
The outstanding performance of the Vietnamese national team at IOI 2024 further affirms the position of Vietnamese education in the highest intellectual arena, and confirms the correct direction in the work of identifying, selecting, and nurturing gifted students by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The IOI 2024 Organizing Committee will hold the Closing Ceremony and Award Presentation on Friday, September 6, 2024 (starting at 7 PM - Egyptian time).
