A 6-year-old boy ( Bac Giang ) was brought to the emergency room on April 24 with peeling skin on his penis, scrotum, exposed testicles, and a high risk of infection and necrosis. The accident occurred when the boy was standing near a sugarcane juicer that was operating, and rolled his pants into the machine shaft. The strong and sudden pulling force directly impacted the boy's genitals. This is a rare but extremely serious situation, requiring intensive emergency surgery to preserve function.

Master, Doctor Bui Van Quang, Center for Andrology, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital said that experts have performed surgery, suturing the skin on both sides of the genitals to preserve and restore the scrotal skin. After 3 months, the patient will have surgery to transfer the flap, reshaping the penis skin.

On May 3, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital admitted a 70-year-old female patient ( Phu Tho ), who works as a sugarcane juice seller and has a history of untreated high blood pressure. While operating the machine, she suddenly became dizzy and had no time to react when her hand was caught in the engine, causing severe damage to her hand. The accident happened in a split second, leaving serious physical and psychological consequences for the patient.

Doctors performed debridement of crushed tissue and treated the peeled skin lesions, and amputated the V finger.

Master, Doctor Nguyen Thanh Luan, Department of General Trauma Surgery, said that after receiving active treatment and post-operative care, the patient was transferred to the Department of Maxillofacial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery to transfer the flap to reconstruct the hand skin defect.

Summer is approaching, the demand for soft drinks increases, leading to many household accidents from fruit and sugarcane juicers. Experts warn: Never let children near motorized juicers when they are in operation.

Elderly people and people with underlying medical conditions such as high blood pressure or heart disease should absolutely not work when they are tired, dizzy or lightheaded – these are warning signs that can lead to unfortunate household accidents.
