Cunha joined MU for a fee of 62.5 million pounds. |
The Telegraph reports that Cunha will earn £200,000 a week at Old Trafford, a significant increase from the £120,000 a week he earned at Wolves. The new deal will see Cunha join the club's highest earners.
Cunha will earn the same salary as Antony, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis, but both are still behind the likes of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount.
Casemiro, 33, is currently the highest-paid player at United on £375,000 a week, followed by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, who each earn £325,000 a week. Mason Mount, meanwhile, earns £250,000 a week.
After information about Cunha's income appeared, many fans had mixed reactions. One account commented: "We are making the same mistake again when paying too much for new players, while they have not shown anything yet". Another fan spoke up: "If Cunha plays badly, MU will have another salary burden similar to Jadon Sancho or Rashford".
Another group of fans defended MU's decision. One fan commented: "Only salaries can attract good players to MU at this time. Remember, we don't even have a ticket to the European Cup."
After Cunha, MU continues to look for another attacking player in the summer transfer window. Victor Osimhen, Bryan Mbeumo and Semenyo are in the Red Devils' sights.
