David Coote is now working as a delivery man for delivery company Evri after being banned for 16 months by UEFA for a series of scandals that sent his career spiralling downward.

Referee Coote's new job.

Coote lives in Newark, Nottinghamshire, and works for delivery company Evri, which is based nearby.

A couple was surprised to see Coote on his camera-equipped doorbell, delivering packages to their home. “I’m just trying to live honestly,” he said. “I want to get on with my life and find a sense of responsibility and meaning. This job keeps me busy, but it’s not a long-term goal.”

A local resident said: "My husband is a Liverpool fan so he couldn't accept what he said. When he saw Coote delivering the parcel, he recognised it immediately. I was shocked too. But frankly, he put himself in this situation."

Last November, The Sun exposed a video of Coote calling manager Jurgen Klopp a “fuckin’ German”. Shortly after, another clip emerged of him using cocaine at EURO 2024. Both incidents have ruined Coote’s refereeing career.

Coote was sacked by the PGMOL in December last year and is now banned from football by UEFA until June next year.

Speaking about his past, Coote admitted: "Drug use was spontaneous, but I felt ashamed to admit it."

Still, Coote is trying to start over. Last month, he ran a marathon to raise money for his uncle Mick, who has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. “Now I’m prioritizing spending time with family and friends, which is really important,” he says.

A close friend of Coote revealed: "David is a good person, just made a stupid mistake and he knows it. Who knows, maybe one day he will return to football, which still needs knowledgeable people like him. But for now, he still has to earn a living."
