At the end of June, after completing a graphic design for a video game, Malia Bakeon (living in France) quietly wrote a post to share in a group of adopted children hoping to find their families.
“I have previously shared information on some groups in Thanh Hoa but it was not approved. I joined this group with the hope of finding help, reconnecting with my biological parents and understanding more about my origins…”, quoted from Malia’s post.

Two weeks after the article was approved, no response was received. As hope faded, Malia decided to contact Dan Tri newspaper , hoping for help in finding her birth parents.
Childhood memories through the stories of foster parents
According to remaining documents, Malia Bakeon's birth name is Bui Thi Dung, born in 1995 in Minh Loc commune, Hau Loc district (now Van Loc commune, Thanh Hoa province). Her father is Mr. Bui Khac Khoa, her mother is Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuy.
Malia’s adoptive parents said that Malia’s family in Vietnam had 5 children (4 girls, 1 boy), living in a coastal fishing village. Her father was a fisherman, her mother was in poor health so she stayed home to do housework. The family’s life was extremely difficult.
Since childhood, Malia has been shared all information about her past by her adoptive parents. They have always supported her in her journey to find her relatives.
“Although they were not rich, they gave me a peaceful childhood. I was able to study well and pursue my dreams,” she confided.
After getting married, Malia's adoptive parents had a biological son. They still decided to adopt because they wanted to "make up for the love they had for an unfortunate child".
Loved and raised by her family in France, Malia never felt deprived of affection. However, deep down, she always longed to see her biological parents again, even though she knew the journey would not be easy.

Malia never blamed her biological parents. On the contrary, she thought that they faced very difficult circumstances and had to accept being away from their children.
In Malia's heart, instead of being angry, she wanted to hear the story from the people who gave birth to her.
“If I have the chance to meet them again, I just want to say thank you. Thanks to my parents' decision, I have a better life,” Malia emotionally shared.
Want to find family
Malia's dream of finding her roots began in high school. Two years ago, she began her journey to find her birth parents, but her busy graphic design job forced her to put it on hold.
Two weeks ago, Malia started from scratch. She tried to contact the hotel where her adoptive parents stayed when they came to Vietnam, posted information on adoption websites around the world but received no response.
Every time she shared something, Malia anxiously waited for the messages, reading all the comments in hopes of a miracle. As the interactions dwindled, she felt empty and sad.

“Over the years, I have often imagined the moment of reunion. For me, that moment is like a fairy tale. After each post, I always pray that I will see my parents soon,” she shared.
Malia was not alone on her journey back. From the first days of dating, she told her boyfriend the whole story. He accompanied her, understood her, and was willing to return to Vietnam with her.
After nearly 30 years of French citizenship, Malia said she always felt Vietnamese blood in her heart. She loves Vietnamese cuisine, especially braised pork and duck dishes. She often learns about her homeland through videos on social networks.
Malia now has a stable job in the field of video game graphic design. She will marry her French boyfriend in September. She and her future husband plan to return to Vietnam with their adoptive parents.
Through Dan Tri newspaper , Malia sent a message: "I have a peaceful and happy life. If my parents read these lines, please speak up to reconnect with each other."
