Việt NamViệt Nam10/06/2024

Since the night of June 8, Muong Khuong district has been experiencing continuous moderate to heavy rains. The rain has caused the soil to become saturated with water, weakening the structure, leading to landslides in many areas. Some roads have been temporarily cut off due to large-scale landslides.

Specifically, the road connecting Muong Khuong town to Simacai district, through Lung Pau village, Tung Chung Pho commune, suffered a landslide on the positive slope of National Highway 4D at Km197 with a volume of about 200 m3 .

In addition, prolonged rain also caused the positive slope behind Lung Khau Nhin Kindergarten to collapse, causing mud to flow into the teachers' dormitory, kitchen, and school yard; the volume of the landslide was about 500 m3 .

Immediately after the disaster occurred, the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (the standing agency of the District Disaster Prevention and Control Command) coordinated with the People's Committees of communes and towns to inspect and count the damage, and effectively implemented the "4 on-site" motto to quickly overcome the consequences.

Currently, on National Highway 4D, through Lung Pau village, Tung Chung Pho commune, the Road Management Department is clearing landslides. At around 9:00 a.m., excavators have made initial preparations, and cars can pass. As for Provincial Highway 154, the construction unit is sending excavators to clear landslides.

At Lung Khau Nhin Kindergarten, the People's Committee of the commune has directed local forces to coordinate with the school to organize inspections, assess the risk of further landslides, and develop a plan to clear landslides immediately after the rain stops, ensuring safety for people and vehicles participating in overcoming the consequences.
