The Ho Do Ho Chi Minh City International Music Festival, season 2, directed by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, and performed by the Ho Chi Minh City Light Music Center, with the participation of many artists from many countries around the world, taking place at the end of the year, has become a meeting point for tourists when mentioning Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition to the Ho Do program, in 2022, many community performances taking place in front of the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office , Ho Chi Minh City Theater, Nguyen Hue walking street... were organized.
The art program "Vietnamese Sounds" organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, performed by the Bong Sen Traditional Music and Dance Theater, took place last weekend in front of the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office and attracted a large number of viewers. Notably, the introduction of this program was conducted in both English and Vietnamese to serve foreign tourists.
Art program "Vietnamese Sounds" in front of Ho Chi Minh City Post Office
This is a model that both attracts tourists and preserves and promotes national cultural values closer to the community, especially young citizens. "Vietnamese Sounds" is performed regularly every Saturday morning in front of the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office and every Saturday and Sunday evening at Nguyen Hue walking street.
After many performances at Lam Son Park, Tao Dan Park, Nha Rong Wharf and in front of the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office with the themes "City of sparkling colors", "Street love songs", "Saigon - I love you"..., the music program "City of love - Lively SaiGon" will be restarted this March. According to the City Light Music Center, in 2023, the music program "City of love - Lively SaiGon" will be invested in content, promising to bring new things to the audience.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "The city's policy is to build a brand and attract tourists to Ho Chi Minh City through the image of "City of Art". Many community art programs will be organized this year with the goal of bringing high-quality artistic and aesthetic content to the public".
Socialization of community performance
According to experts, the goal is "to make tourists have a favorable view of Ho Chi Minh City when mentioning it, and immediately remember Ho Chi Minh City as a city of culture and art", so creating community performance programs is not only the job of the management agency but requires the cooperation of the whole society.
On the last day of 2022, the performance of 500 musicians at the water music stage in Hoa Binh Square (HCMC) attracted the public. 500 musicians from different provinces and cities, ranging in age from 6 to over 40, performed a variety of styles from traditional to modern music. The musical instruments used included drums, acoustic guitars, electric guitars and organs. The organizer also mobilized nearly 200 singers to participate in the music night. This event became an impressive art program at the moment of saying goodbye to the old year and welcoming the new year.
Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan - representative of the organizing unit said: "This event is planned to register to set a Southeast Asian record. However, the registration procedures take a long time so it cannot be done. In the near future, we will carry out another special program to mobilize more musicians to participate."
According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, in 2023, community performances will not only be concentrated in the central area but will be held in districts so that people everywhere can enjoy high-quality art performances.
