Vietnam has 6 billionaires in the world list
Forbes magazine has just announced the list of world billionaires in 2024, in which Vietnam still has 6 representatives, similar to last year.
The six billionaires include Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, VietJet Air Chairman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Hoa Phat Chairman Tran Dinh Long, Techcombank Chairman Ho Hung Anh, Thaco Chairman Tran Ba Duong and Masan Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang.
Except for Mr. Quang and Mr. Duong, the remaining billionaires all recorded an increase in assets compared to last year.

Mr. Vuong currently owns 4.4 billion USD, an increase of 0.1 billion USD compared to last year. This is the 12th year he has been on this list.
Ms. Thao has assets of 2.8 billion USD, up from 2.2 billion USD last year. She is currently Vice Chairwoman of HDBank Board of Directors and Chairwoman of VietJet Air.
Steel tycoon Tran Dinh Long owns 2.6 billion USD, up from 1.8 billion USD last year. He is currently ranked 1,286th in the world.
Mr. Ho Hung Anh is on this list for the 6th time. His assets this year are 1.7 billion USD.
Mr. Tran Ba Duong was included in the billionaire list in 2018, currently has 1.2 billion USD, down 0.3 billion USD compared to last year. Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) founded by him initially only sold cars, then gradually assembled for foreign brands, such as Kia, Mazda and Peugeot and produced Vietnamese-branded buses and trucks.
Masan Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang appeared on the list for the fourth consecutive year. His assets are currently $1.2 billion.
To be included in the list, the method chosen by Forbes is to evaluate the size of an individual's assets based on stock prices and exchange rates as of March 10.
This year, the world has a record 2,781 billionaires, 141 more than last year. Their wealth is also the largest ever, at $14.2 trillion, thanks to a global stock market rally that defies inflation and geopolitical turmoil.
The richest person on the planet is currently LVMH Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault with $233 billion. Followed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk with $195 billion, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ($194 billion) and Meta Platforms boss Mark Zuckerberg ($177 billion).
