Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) Doan Van Viet said that in the first 7 months of 2023, the number of international tourists to Vietnam reached more than 6.6 million, the number of domestic tourists is still growing strongly, estimated at about 76.5 million, total revenue from tourists is estimated at 416.6 trillion VND. Of which, in July 2023 alone, Vietnam welcomed and served 1.04 million visitors. This is the first month in 2023 that we have welcomed over 1 million international visitors.
Besides, despite being severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam's tourism development capacity index still increased, in 2021 it increased by 8 places compared to 2019, ranking 52/117 countries/ economies . Vietnam is considered one of the countries with the highest improvement in the ranking index in the world.
In order to develop tourism effectively and sustainably as well as implement Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector, on May 18, 2023, the Government issued Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP on key tasks and solutions to accelerate recovery and accelerate effective and sustainable tourism development. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also issued Decision No. 440/QD-BVHTTDL on approving the Vietnam Tourism Marketing Strategy to 2030, issued Decision No. 1894/QD-BVHTTDL dated July 14, 2023 on the Project on a number of models for developing night tourism products...
The conference discussed many solutions to attract international visitors.
At the conference, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested delegates to focus on a number of contents, including disseminating, thoroughly understanding and seriously implementing the contents of new documents; speeding up and taking drastic actions to create breakthroughs in tourism development, promptly seizing opportunities due to more open visa policies as a lever to help the tourism industry develop rapidly, rapidly increasing the number of international visitors to Vietnam.
At the conference, representatives of tourism management agencies, associations, and tourism workers focused on discussing many groups of contents, including urgently developing and completing action plans to concretize new documents of the tourism industry through mechanisms and policies.
In addition, delegates also discussed solutions to accelerate and take drastic actions to create breakthroughs in tourism development; promote the dynamism, creativity and driving role of businesses in tourism recovery and development.
