Nam Dinh: Verifying and clarifying the case of a patient's family member assaulting a medical staff

On May 7, the leader of the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health said that the Provincial General Hospital is closely coordinating with the police to verify and clarify the incident in which a patient's family member assaulted a medical staff member.

At 7:50 a.m. on May 4, at the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department, Nam Dinh General Hospital, nurse Nguyen Van Hoat was cursed and beaten on the head and face by a young man named NVTh, 33 years old (a relative of patient Nguyen Van Khu).

The on-duty team took nurse Nguyen Van Hoat for a medical examination and invited the police to come in; nurse Nguyen Van Hoat is being treated at the hospital's Neurosurgery Department, diagnosed with head and facial trauma.

Previously, at 6:32 a.m. on May 4, patient Nguyen Van Khu (68 years old, residing in Xuan Hong commune, Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province) was transferred from the General Surgery Department to room A, Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department with a diagnosis of acute pancreatitis - common bile duct stones - gastrointestinal bleeding - cirrhosis - type II diabetes in a state of circulatory arrest.

The on-duty team quickly performed CPR and placed an endotracheal tube; after 30 minutes, the patient had a pulse again and continued to receive intensive care and treatment.

At around 7:50 a.m. the same day, a young man, a relative of patient Nguyen Van Khu, appeared in the hospital room, cursed and suddenly beat nurse Nguyen Van Hoat, of the General Surgery Department, who was assigned by the department's doctor to go to the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department to complete the handover procedures and support the patient's family.

After that, the on-duty team continued to actively care for and treat the patient. At 4:20 p.m. the same day, the patient was in a coma, on a ventilator, with stable hemodynamics. The patient's family wrote a request for the patient to be discharged from the hospital.
