Farmers in Nam Chinh commune (Nam Sach) plant winter onions right after harvesting the summer-autumn rice crop.

By October 16, Nam Sach district had planted 2,050 hectares, reaching 75.1% of the plan, the fastest in the province.

The progress of winter vegetable planting in Nam Sach is fast because the dry weather recently has facilitated the harvest of summer-autumn rice, freeing up land for winter crops. Most of the rice acreage in Nam Sach is harvested by machine, and land preparation is almost 100% mechanized. Many rice fields are harvested in the morning and vegetables are planted in the afternoon.

This winter crop, Nam Sach district has a policy of supporting fertilizer for some crops such as potatoes, onions, garlic, tomatoes, kohlrabi, cabbage at the rate of 65,000-72,000 VND/sao (depending on the type). This also contributes to encouraging farmers to expand the area of crop crops.

Along with Nam Sach district, some other localities in Hai Duong also have fast progress in planting winter crops such as Kinh Mon town (1,445 ha), Kim Thanh (1,330 ha), Gia Loc (995 ha)...

By the morning of October 16, the whole province had planted over 10,000 hectares of winter vegetables, reaching 46.5% of the plan. The largest area is leafy vegetables with 3,068 hectares, followed by onions and garlic with 2,866 hectares, carrots with 910 hectares, cabbage with 880 hectares, corn with 559 hectares, melons with 529 hectares...

Hai Duong aims to plant 21,500 hectares of winter crops, striving for a production value of 4,800 billion VND, an average of 223 million VND/ha.
