At the Miss Cosmo 2024 contest, Bui Gia Huy (a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law) became a "powerful assistant" for Miss Bangladesh Farzana in conveying messages in Vietnamese through social networking sites. Huy translated the exact meaning, using familiar languages, catching the "trend" of the message that Miss Bangladesh wanted to convey to beauty fans during her time competing at Miss Cosmo 2024 held in Vietnam. This started from an interesting opportunity, at the end of August, Huy participated in a discussion on a beauty forum and received an online interview with Miss Universe India through V.Crown, a beauty support page of a Vietnamese community. Huy's charming way of speaking during the livestream session accidentally attracted the attention of Miss Bangladesh.

On September 2, on the occasion of Vietnam's National Day, Miss Universe India continued to ask Huy to become a "translator" to convey positive messages to Vietnamese fans. After a smooth translation, Huy received a friend request from Miss Bangladesh. Coincidentally, the day Miss Universe Bangladesh came to Vietnam to compete in Miss Cosmo 2024 also fell on Huy's day off from school, creating conditions for a direct meeting. Since then, the two have accompanied each other throughout the journey of Miss Cosmo 2024, demonstrating their connection and friendship in a meaningful beauty contest. Huy said he had no difficulty communicating with Farzana, thanks to his language skills. Before this event, Huy was simply an audience who loved and followed the contest, so there was no special preparation. For Huy, a second-year student, having the opportunity to interpret for an international beauty queen is one of the best memories. Although he did not have much experience in communication and was often not as talkative as his friends, Huy still confidently took on the role of supporting Farzana. “One of the memorable moments was when I wrote a translation to help people send Farzana off to Bangladesh on the night of October 10. The social media post with a conversation with fans using the trending word “mây keo ơi” quickly became famous on social media platforms. I was very happy when the translation in the posts on Farzana’s personal page was received positively. This support made me feel happy and motivated to continue pursuing my passion for languages,” Huy said.

Learned a lot

During the process of working with Miss Farzana at Miss Cosmo 2024, Huy felt that he learned a lot. One of the most impressive things about Farzana is her confidence and ability to inspire every time she appears. Huy considers it an honor to be in contact with someone with a vision and strong will.

Farzana is a person with clear goals and determination, which makes Huy want to accompany her on the journey to Miss Cosmo 2024 even more. Farzana once participated in Miss International 2023 but had no achievements, until her success at Miss Cosmo with a top 21 position. "By packing up and participating in the contest alone, Farzana has had an impressive journey. This is truly an admirable achievement," Huy said. In particular, Huy always remembers what Farzana said when they first met: "If you choose to participate in a beauty contest or any contest, with this dedication, you will definitely make it." A motivational compliment for Huy's journey of learning and self-improvement ahead. "Practicing and improving your vocabulary every day will help create the best experience for international friends. Huy realizes that to fully convey the content, interpreters need to be more articulate than usual," Huy said. The experience of becoming an interpreter for Miss Universe Bangladesh has changed Huy’s life in a positive way.
