Police forces promptly prevented THH students from transferring money to scammers.

Earlier, at around 3 PM on October 24th, the An Cuu Ward Police received a report from a lecturer at Hue University stating that a first-year student from THH (from Ha Tinh province, temporarily residing in An Cuu ward) was suspected of being "kidnapped online" and requested the ward police's assistance.

Upon receiving the report, Major Nguyen Tan Phuoc, Head of An Cuu Ward Police, repeatedly called H. but was unable to reach her. He then sent a text message warning her about the "online kidnapping" scheme. Simultaneously, An Cuu Ward police arrived at H.'s rented room and discovered that H. was still communicating with the scammers without realizing it. The police reassured and encouraged her, and promptly prevented H. from transferring money to the scammers.

According to information from the An Cuu Ward Police, through verification, the unit discovered that the suspects had used a forged document, a fake announcement from a university under Hue University regarding a student exchange program and scholarship application review under the Agreement in South Korea for 2025-2026. This fake announcement clearly stated that THH would receive a scholarship and requested that she prepare the necessary application documents. The suspects then sent this announcement online to gain H.'s trust, persuade her to follow their instructions, and requested that she transfer money to an account they provided.

The incident is currently being investigated by the An Cựu Ward Police in coordination with other units.
