From mid-2024 until now, coffee prices have increased to a record high, ranging from 110,000 to 132,000 VND/kg of raw coffee beans, making people and purchasing businesses very excited.

Although the coffee harvest season has ended, the export situation for this item still has many positive signs. The Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong province said that from the beginning of 2025 to now (as of April 2), agricultural exports reached 113.36 million USD. Of which, coffee alone exported 13,121 tons, reaching 68.03 million USD, accounting for about 60% of the value of agricultural exports in general (tea, vegetables, tubers, fruits, flowers and raw silk). In 2024, the value of coffee export turnover reached 226.2 million USD and in 2023 it was 180 million USD. Thus, according to the assessment, the agricultural product group is still the group with the largest export proportion in the total export value of the province, with 532.9 million USD, accounting for 54% of the total export value of the province and growing 4.5% over the same period. The coffee product group, besides durian, has quite good growth. Coffee exports have increased by about 10% each year and account for about 50 to 60% of the proportion of agricultural export products.

Accumulated in the first 4 months of 2025, coffee exports are estimated at 19.48 thousand tons.

According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, in 2024, coffee trees will reach 176.8 thousand hectares, an increase of 0.7% in output. Of which, the safe production area will be expanded with 8,400 hectares certified by VietGAP (an increase of 11%) with a total output of 526,096 tons/year (an increase of 10.98%); organic production will reach 1,708 hectares (an increase of 18.7%) with an estimated total output of more than 14,534 tons/year (an increase of 114%); the area of 4C, UTZ certified coffee, etc. will reach 88,000 hectares (an increase of 2.32%), with an output of 297,440 tons/year (an increase of 8.1%).

The province currently has 490 enterprises and processing facilities. Of these, 181 units process roasted and ground coffee and ground coffee, with a processing capacity of 300,000 - 320,000 tons of green coffee and over 10,000 tons of ground coffee per year. In addition, among these green coffee processing enterprises, 13 units participate in direct export. During the year, departments, branches and localities have implemented many solutions to promote the development of export markets for the province's agricultural products, especially promoting the development of e-commerce, supporting enterprises and cooperatives to participate in the chain of promoting information and brands on the website nongsandalatlamdong.vn, other electronic information sites, social platforms, etc., so that enterprises have more information to connect and consume agricultural products domestically and internationally. Developing agriculture associated with processing industry, developing agricultural export markets and global value chains in Lam Dong province.

The establishment and development of clusters linking processing and consumption with raw material production areas are of interest to establishments and cooperatives based on the guidance and support of state management agencies. Newly formed chains are increasing. Clusters of preliminary processing and processing of green coffee and ground coffee in Lam Ha and Di Linh districts, Da Lat and Bao Loc cities with 28 chains, 21,236 linked households, an area of 41,064 hectares, and an output of 142,959 tons.

However, according to the leader of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the rate of agricultural products, including coffee, being processed is still low, there are not many deeply processed agricultural products, and only the majority of raw coffee is exported. Therefore, this product still has many unsustainable factors.

In addition, digital transformation in agricultural production, processing and consumption has not received due attention and investment from enterprises and establishments. E-commerce has initially received attention and application, however, the proportion of agricultural products consumed through e-commerce is still very low, only reaching less than 0.1% of the total agricultural output of the province.

To meet the increasing demand of the market, especially the export market, many localities in the province have invested in organic coffee production. In addition to the efforts of farmers and businesses, the authorities have also given development orientations for this key industrial crop.

According to the plan, by 2025, Lam Dong will replant and graft about 29,400 hectares to increase the average yield to 3.5 tons/ha. In particular, old Arabica coffee areas will continue to be replanted, renovated and converted to grow high-quality Arabica coffee varieties in suitable areas. Advanced coffee cultivation solutions according to sustainable standards such as UTZ, 4C, Rainforest, intercropping fruit trees, etc. will continue to be implemented.
